Hey guys:

Noobie to reps here checking in from Arkansas. I've been infatuated with watches for a couple years. After years and years of schooling I finished up in 2010 and have since began my career and earning a paycheck (so I can finally indulge in my hobbies). I currently own a few entry level gens and a few G-Shocks to beat around it.
Greatly look forward to taking delivery of my first rep.

You guys have some top notch reading material on the site. Look forward to meeting you all and learning a lot during my tenure.

Hello!

So after reading for several hours I decided on my first rep. I have placed on order for a noob 111n v3 model. Originally planned to order from a TD but found a m:m sale with a reputable seller. Cannot wait to take a look.

Do people ever install chronometer grade ETA movements in their reps? Is this possible?

Thank you. You guys in the Pam section have been an amazing resource. I'll be stoked if the write ups in the other sections are half as good.

If your asking if we install Gen movements in our rep watches. Yes!!
All the time. We try to install every Gen part that will fit a rep watch. Depends on the watch. Welcome to the Fold my friend!

That's awesome! I haven't been around long enough to pick up on that. I've seen people put a gen bezel on here and a gen hornback there. So this is the "frankenwatches?"

What all can be modded to the Pam 111n V3?

Yes these are the frankens.
Im thinking that theres all kinds of things you can do to a PAM 111N.
I haven't gottin the pleasure to do anything to a pam yet.
But ALE that posted in your thread and said hope to see you in the pam section. This guy knows everything about a Pam there is to know.Check out his post and section.Theres a lot to learn and I mean a lot!
Set back and enjoy your self.If you like watches your in the right place. Enjoy!

putting a gen "OP" movement into a 111 doesn't make a ton of sense because the panerai movement is just an ETA movement with decorated bridges. You can get the same precision and performance from a clone movement (of what is essentially a 50 year old ETA pocket watch movement) with a few mods (like incabloc etc ... you can read allllll about it in the pam section). Gen movements into something like an iwc portu 3714 or a gen movement into a breitling might make more sense as the asian versions of more complicated movements (like 7750) aren't as easily decorated or tuned to be similar to their gen counterparts.

Grats on your 111 ... that's a fabulous watch. if you're into pams check out the 005 (closed case back no tells there) or 243 ... these are some more greatly replicated watches. I think you'll find the quality of reps is equal in feel to gens (i certainly don't feel like my high end reps are different than standard easy to obtain gens).

Very well stated....

Thanks guys.

Makes sense. Decorated bridges and screws on an otherwise mostly stock movement might not be worth the investment.

Can a cheaper movement that comes in a rep be serviced to +/- 3-5 seconds per day? I don't expect to get that kind of performance from a rep.

Without question. My serviced and regulated Asian clone 2836 with gmt module in rep pam 029 is within cosc. Looses about 40 seconds a month. So 1-2 seconds per day.

That's amazing! Do you send all your watches to the same person for servicing, water proofing and modding? Or do you have to ship them around to get everything done?

Last night I had read so much on this forum reps haunted my dreams all night.
