Hello Everyone! New to the forum but not new to the Breitling world a matter of fact they are my favorite watch maker. I have owned a few Gen's in the past (SOH 46 on mesh, SOSF, Colt GMT on a pro II) So, I am no stranger to the superb quality of Breitling watches.
I have been lurking around here for a month or two and joined just in time to find out about the June release of the ::New SuperOcean II, 2010, or Abyss (Whatever you want to call it):: Afte regretfully getting rid of my SOH46 and SOSF and only having my Colt GMT left and an empty space in my winder I thought to myself this would make a nice addition.
I wasnt to thrilled with it coming on a rubber smooth Pro Diver strap but had an extra Gen 20mm ProII with 131A end links laying around and I figured this would be a fun/easy project if the 1 : 1 against the Genuine was really the case.
After doing some thread searching on here and reading what people were saying (it was a great rep). Even those who particularly didnt care for the new Breitling style or people saying the size was to small at 42mm still said it was a great quality rep, maybe even... do I dare say it... A SUPER REP! So... Enticed with the buzz I jumped on it. After deciding on the Black on Black (For a couple of reasons, 1. At 42mm black on black surely helps the watch wear bigger then a colored rehaut which give's the impression of a smaller watch.) I placed an order with Josh from Perfect Clones. His service was great and his QC pic's were a real tease. After giving the OK and shipping standard EMS within a week I had the watch! Not bad for going half way around the world to Tennessee. Let me just say I am soooooo Glad I made this purchase.
After opening the box upon arival I was so stoked! I gave it a quick once over set the time and date through it on the wrist and WOW! Absolutley beautiful! As suspected, I was not thrilled with the rubber pro diver strap (Just not me) so crossing my fingers I took off the rubber and went to put it on the gen Pro II with 131A endlinks and wala it fit PERFECT no slop tight just like it were GEN!!!!! After I put it on the pro II it hasnt left my wrist since!
The quality is superb! As far as feel, in comparison to my Gens it is lacking nothing IMHO. The first thing I notciced was the quality of the case! The 316 steel is awesome. The Rubber it came on was excellently done, the buckle/clasp is excellent being at about 99.9% there vs. the gen. It also has a cool sweet type smell to it. As far as being lint free it could be a little bit better but I have heard others say after they wore it acouple of days this improved greatly (I didnt have it on the Pro Diver on there more then 30 min before switching to the Pro II as stated earlier)
This watch came with an Asia ETA 2824-2 which is VERY quiet (Maybe a little louder then my gen Colt GMT which has a gen swiss ETA 2836-2 from Breitling) and is keeping great by the way about +4 sec a day!
The Double AR coating is beautifully done a deep purple/blue (That only Breitlings have) being just like my gens. At certain angles the crystal just disappears.
The crown and B are subpar by no means! The crown tube has quite a few threads on it and feel's good when screwing the crown down (not gritty or coarse) They are as close to a gen as I have seen. (matching the quality of my gen Colt GMT.)
The coined bezel at 120 click's is tight and the detail is impecable. The bezel numbers really something. I have heard some complain about the rubber but honestly I really think it is a nice breakaway from the standard numbered bezel with rider tab's which graces so many Breitlings (SO, SOSF, Colt, Chronomat, SA you get the picture).
The dial and date wheel are remarkable. They really paid attention to detail here!
The back cover is beautifully adorned with Breitlings standard engraving and individual serial number.
The only gripe I would have is the lume, though way better then most replicas out there still not quite up to the gen standard which under small amount of light blaze like a wild fire.
Now all that being said on to the pic's!
In the pic's I put it in a gen box set I had around and again it is on my gen Pro II the rep rubber is in the pic's though.
And a wrist shot.
Lume shot
