It's not that I don't believe they have Omegas in Japan but how this seller has such an unending supply of choice used watches and why they are listed on ebay.com for sale in the US.
The reason these guys get supply, is that they have established themselves as a trusted source, and the sellers choose to send their watches to them for sale.
The seller, in fact gets a better price because the dealer is so well known for the specific brand. The seller also more than probably has dealt before- he may have even bought the watch from the same dealer.
These dealers are selling worldwide, you better believe that the USA is no longer the financial hub of the world, so they are just one of many avenues the bigger dealers choose to market to.
I deal with a guy in Singapore who handles specifically used Rolex. He has no shop front, doesn't advertise in the conventional manner, just sends out lists of current FS Rolex, to those who he knows are buyers of the marque.
He told me a couple of years back at the height of the financial crisis, that "all the bankers are divesting themselves of their toys", and he had a huge array of models FS. This drove the market a long way down, and its only now slowly recovering.
I sell approx 1 Rolex a month to my clients, nearly always obtained from him, as a known and trusted vendor, who is at the coal face of pricing used Rolex.
If anyone is getting the price correct, its him! So I have utmost faith that the price I am offering is in line with the rest of the world.
Some dealers are one or two brand specialists, some deal across the range. But they all know their prices VERY well, and will tell you within $50.00 what any quality used watch will sell for.
Wish I had as much market info, to be able to do the same.
