What's the story with ham in CN? Verboten I imagine?
We have quite a few hams here, txrob being one.
Quite the opposite. It is encouraged, the school where I work has several. Like most clubs, our campus club maintains a 440 repeater which links to the city (Which means county, to them a City is a city-state. A county is a subdivision within a city).
The biggest problem that ham radio faces in China, other then the cost, like everywhere, is that like anything else that isn't obviously intended to cause harm, it isn't well regulated. Of course, there are laws; but, like most other Chinese laws, no one follows, or enforces, them. No one sees the reason to go through the effort to go through the trouble of getting a license when you can go and get the radios without a license.
All the same, have a healthy number of licensed operators in our campus and city clubs.
On a totally different note, I have been wanting a "white" faced watch for a couple of months. I finally broke down and purchased a Gen Citizen (Hey ! it costs more than a rep!) tonight.
My assistant even convinced me to go with a "Giant" 42mm case size. It is not a US model; so, I can not link to any good pictures.
Here is a not so good picture of a Citizen NJ2166-55A, I will take some better ones tomorrow.
