After a 15+ break from rep collecting/modding I'm back & it's thanks to these two...

As the title says, after taking a 15+ break from rep collecting and modding (click here if you'r curious as to why) I've started up again. It's mostly because of these two reps pictured below...

The pictures don't do justice to the actual watches (unfortunately it's the best I could do with what i've got at the moment).

The submariner on the right was my first ever rep. Believe it or not, It's about 17 years old and still works and looks great. It keeps time as good as when I first got it. It's funny, I've had this for so long, I can't even remember where or from who I purchased it. I've dived in 3 different oceans and countless numbers of trips to Asia and Europe with this watch. So here's living proof on the quality of reps! I've recently changed out the original metal strap with a PVD coated, James Bond/Dr. No NATO strap with the original RAF regiment colors (dark navy blue, olive drab green, and thin maroon stripes) as an homage to Connery and Craig (yes, i'm a die-hard Bond fanatic).

The Project X Daytona rep is one of my most recent acquisitions and mod projects. The DLC coating on the crown is rock-solid, but only certain sections of the original band were DLC treated and those that weren't started to fade. So I replaced it with the SS band from the old submariner. I'm actually really happy with the results and think it looks better than the all black band. More unique anyway :)

I know for a fact that it is Swiss ETA, but as to the exact movement I honestly can't remember. Keep in mind, 17+ years ago and it being my first rep and not knowing much about watches, I was more concerned about how shiny it was lol...But I can say that I have an authentic ORIS diver about the same age and the sub keeps time just as accurately.

Great to know that a REP may last for years and years... I can see that the REPs have really, really progressed over the years. Thanks for sharing.

No worries mate, not offended at all...I know what it's like being a noob again myself. The pictures I posted aren't very good at all, was really hesitant to even post them, but was just too excited at the time! The pictures other members post on here are amazing and I've been reading up on the picture taking tutorials...One day hopefully... ;)

ok this is like the second or third time this guy has done this in one my posts...Trolls have spam bots now? I guess reps aren't the only thing that have progressed over the past 15+ years lol....:lolcina:

I know what your saying about the pictures people post on here studio quality!!! I need to pick up a nice camera and sharpen up my picturing taking skills. Good to know these watches can last so long and still look beautiful after so many years.

No, I do have other reps but these two are my favorites and are the ones that got me back in to rep collecting after the 15+ break so I decided to show these first. Just to clarify, the 15+ year break was a break from collecting reps only...I still collected watches, but only purchased authentic ones and less frequently. This being the case, my collection of authentic watches outnumbers my reps and includes OMEGA, ORIS, RADO, TAG to name a few. I just didn't have the time to stay in the rep game anymore...

I did recently acquire two TAGS (a Grand Carerra calibre 36 and Formula 1) and Chanel Ceramic White for the missus...They were gifts from a relative visiting from Asia who knew I used to be in to reps, but absolutely no offense them, the quality is horrendous of all 3 watches. So I don't even want to spend the free digital film and post pics of them. Then again, my digital camera isn't that great for close-ups so maybe they would look better lol ;)

The only rep mods I've done so far (if it's even considered a mod) is changing the all black band from the daytona pictured above with the SS band from the sub. While doing this, I was amazed at the quality of the daytona (which is new) compared to the 17 year old sub. Even the missus was impressed...And thus, here I am back in the game. :)

The quality of watches now is insane! They feel so well made and look even better then I could have ever imagined. This is coming from someone who only bought one rep a long time ago a cheap $30 rolex that feel apart. I found this site after looking up reps read a lot and ordered my first rep I was in shock and these aren't even the best money can buy but my panerai 111 v2.5 has to be my favorite. I keep looking at gens and comparing I can't find a flaw at all. But I don't have the expertise that a lot of the knowledgable members have on the forum they can pin point the most microscopic flaws.
