I am no lume expert but based on reading posts from others who are I wonder if using a thinner base with the lume would help it to spread and dry a little thinner/flatter?
Thanks for not taking it the wrong way, it means a lot to me.
This was what i was thinking if i used the indices, if I make it too thin though it will run and not hold as much powder in the mix, this might not really be an issue on an older dial though, from the pics you posted they are very inconsistent patterns. I was thinking of painting the white bases and then luming on top of that, like the pics.
Not trying to be a jerk either, but save the trouble & just go with a Yuki dial.
The best you could do with that dial is just lose the markers & lume directly on the dial.
If Rob wants to buy a Yuki I'm down. Im just working with what was supplied and i think i can do it. I love a challenge
Rick, I should have mentioned to you the dial markers and how they were installed as opposed to being applied directly to the dial.
If you plan to use this dial I would advise you bond the hell out of them or they will fall out of the pin holes they are slid into.
If you could apply the lume directly to the dial you me get the results you want, or mabye Rob will like the dial as is. I can tell you that the handstack on that 2836 has very little room to spare above the dial so it is possible the gmt hand can get stuck.
I like to see the progress here, I hope mine is coming along as well.
Can't wait to see the final product, I know Rob will be stoked.
I found that out after tearing into the watch, i was thinking they were painted on like the 1680/mil type dials. I thought it was worth a shot, but was really unsure since they were so puffy and high.
I think lume to the dial has to be the way to go for height issues and like ThinkBachs showed, visually its not Gen like.
Guys I really do appreciated all the help, and I dont take offense to what you guys say........just dont talk of about Texas:txrob:, Ya hear! lol =P
