My ultimate DSSD build, finally on it's way to me!

When I had this dream, i figured none other than Mr. PBDAD himself would be right for this job.

Started with a stock BK DSSD, excellent watch...actually my first rep ever! I wanted it as close to gen without wasting money on franken parts so here's what I went with. Kind of fun to go back to your first rep ever and turn it into something incredible!

-Stock BK Noob DSSD.
-Refinished the bracelet (I did this before sending to PB)
-DSSD V7 dial, Angus was nice enough to get one for me and ship it straight to PBDAD.
-PB removed the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11 markers from the V7 dial (the print quality sucks on the v7 dial, boo) and gutted the lume out of them, as well as shaved off the pins.
-popped off the old markers from the noob dial and satin finished the dial
-put the V7 markers on the satin finished noob dial (the v7 markers are EXTREMELY close to gen, as the rings are nice and thin). The stock noob markers for 6 9 and 12 were just fine, so we left those, in fact they look quite close to gen since they have a bit thicker edges.
-Fully relumed the markers and hands
-AR'd the underside of the crystal for a clearer, more gen like appearance
-filled in the ring lock text with matte black paint to be flush with the rehaut surface
-filled in the bezel markers with a whiter paint, more gen like as well...
-filled in the case back text as well (was rubbing off)
-full WR test to 8ATM, passed with flying colors!

and.... as if that wasn't enough...

-PB did the ULTIMATE, and just look at the pics for yourself....MOST AMAZING, GEN LIKE, Pearl mod ever. I had spoke with him before sending the watch out...letting him know the pearl mod was the most important thing he could do...and good lord did he listen to me!

Can't tell you how excited I am to get this baby back.... here are a few pics PB sent before shipping this out! He did include a little note with the photos saying "this is the best work I've ever done" and honestly, I believe him!

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile! Looks awesome - great build. Why did the hour marker feet have to be shaved off? Would they not fit in the noob dial?

that is a spectacular looking pearl, extremely gen-like, but it's sitting right in the middle of an incorrectly shaped bezel triangle. triangle should be flat on top not curved like so many of the reps are and is one of the largest and most obvious tells for anyone in the know.

it amazes me how so many members will spend huge coin to create these highly modded pieces yet come out on the other end with still huge tells. i suppose it's all about what you can and cannot live with flaw-wise but i mean...where do you draw the line? if you just couldn't live with the wrong finish on the dial or the poor printing on the dial or the lack of ar'd cyclops...how can you live with the bezel triangle?

excellent mod work for sure, done by one of the best but this type of activity perplexes me.

^ don't agree with you. the gen DSSD has a curved triangle. not the best pic, but it's pretty obvious.

There may be variations between the gen DSSD versions, i had seen some that appear less curved, but none are flat like the trevor bezel triangle...that looks totally wrong in my opinion.

i don't claim to be any kind of expert here but i thought it was a pretty widely accepted fact that the gen has a flat top bezel triangle. i have not seen any gen pic to the contrary.

the pic you just posted has a FLAT top bezel triangle

furthermore, i've held the gen in my own hands and the triangle is indeed flat on top.

I googled and it seems to me that curves do exist, though I suck at spotting things...

Either way, no one is ever going to say something.

and here's a "trevor" or "v7" DSSD, this triangle isn't flat, it's practically curving in! eww..

looks very nice. but why didn't you have BK's DWO installed? I mean you pay so much attention to the markers and other details but you didn't have this flaw fixed...

About the triangle..:
All the ceramic bezels with pearl have flat triangle top..The truth is that an illusion is made cause the pearl is in the center and sometimes it looks to be curvy..The pearl doesn't touch the triangle in gens..So the Trevors looks like a Chinese star and the noob wrong...
So only a custom job could fix this tell..But chill out guys..

Also this pearl modd is one of the best i have seen and the curve is not so obvious in real life..Of course when you have pics it is easier..

RING LOCK text didn't need to be filled in. Gen:

and the bezel engraving is actually pearled platinum, not white, meaning they have a slightly silvery look rather than white.

I have seen people getting the V7 dial markers and swapping them on the Noob dial before and thought that was a great idea as the thick outlined dial markers look horrendous IMO. I've always wanted to do that but didn't really go all the way because the Pearl still had a long way to go before it came any close to the gen Pearl.

The pearl in your watch comes close to the gen pearl. I still wouldn't call it a Super Pearl but it is very good compared to what we have been seeing. Check this pic of a gen pearl from eBay

It matches well with PbDad's modded pearl on your DSSD except that the gen Pearl is slightly bigger methinks. Nevertheless I am quite happy to see this progress.

Amazing mod that one & congratulations for being a proud owner of this watch. When I get ahead with a similar mod, I'd go for double AR on the crystal as I just love that look. Yeah I know the gen doesn't have double AR but I still feel double AR looks better for some reason.

One thing I'd like to see is how the SEL's fit on this. For such a build you got to have some tight fitting SEL's mate. Please do post pics of the bracelet mounted when the watch arrives.

It's a bk dssd, that is the dwo.

Optical illusion. I just checked mine and I guarantee that it's flat.

+1... Damn nice watch, wear it and enjoy it! To the naked eye in normal viewing, who's going to see any difference?

I only mention the things I do to bring awareness to others who may read this thread and consider modifications themselves. Please note that just because these things are done on this watch does not make them accurate.

Regarding the second often sought after modification (after painting the bezel engraving white), there are some DSSD dials that have a matte appearance to them depending on the lighting, but most of them look like this:

Meaning, performing a matte mod on a DSSD dial is entirely unnecessary for accuracy sake, so you can scratch that off the list.
