42 mm Explorer 2 date wheel?

I'm pretty happy with my new 42 mm Explorer 2, except for the ridiculously large datewheel font. A BK dwo won't work. Anyone have an idea how to rectify this? I can't even find a 3187 datewheel for the gen to try that since this watch is too new for anyone to have parts except Rolex.

It won't. The dial on this thing is about the size of a 50 piece. It's far bigger than normal. A standard GMT date wheel could be replaced by one of BK's dwo. This needs one for the 3187. No idea where to find one....

...and even if you source a good one then you may find that some of the dates might be off centre... E.g., you see part of the next or previous number. I hate when that happens.

How serious is the problem with your dw though? It doesn't look too bad to me.

I would be more concerned with the GMT hand, it seems to be very nearly on the hour even though the time shows half past? :)

Here's the size difference. I need to reset the GMT, just haven't yet. The 42 dial is just huge!

That GMT hand can be independently set. :)

WOW...that's a big one rup. But aside from the oversized dat it looks very good to me.

The date wheel is too big. No where near what the gen looks like.

This ones AR'd. Supposedly. That might be something to try though.

I believe the gen is 2x, not 2.5x, so that might be a good idea if you currently have a 2.5 installed. Just make sure you deal with the AR issue.

I can give this a shot and see how it turns out, but I suspect it's not going to work. When I'm looking close up under the cyclops through the window in the dial at the datewheel itself I can see the jumbo size of the font. It fills the whole window.

HI There,

I find that the datewheel magnification is quite the same with the gen...i often see the genuine explorer II 42MM..the date wheel font is indeed quite big. overall your explorer 2 is already the same as the genuine. it is perfect rep. could you spot any other difference beside date wheel magnification??

The main problem is the size of the dial date window...

Then the engaving of the date is not correct..If the BK's DW overlay worked it would be ok..
Find a good DW Rup...Don't change the cyclops IMO..
Which DW are the GMT's from Wiz use??
Maybe it will work..

Is Wiz doing a 42mm?

Nothing major. The lume color on the hands uncharged is different from the markers. The lume is so-so. SEL fit is excellent! The rehaut engraving is nearly perfect in size and lines up. Really a nice watch overall. Gen on top.

Hi Rup,

Thanks for the good pictures. I found that the date wheel between both gen and rep is about the same. look at the 9 at gen and the 9 at rep. the font is also correct. The hands are all the same thickness. Do you spot any flaws??

U.K.
I have the black dial version and the date is wrong. It is 20% too large and not quite bold enough!
The digit '9' is a poor example to show it unforuntaley as it becomes more apparent on double digits. The numbers go right to the 4 edges of the date window whereas on the gen of any Rolex model, the number has a small gap all the way round the window.

Hi BotsyBoy,

ic..you might be right as the different is very small here. if there is no gen to compare side by side, i think we even don't know that the date wheel is bigger a bit compared to gen. So beside date wheel, do you notice any flaws that different from the gen? i think this model is already 99 percent perfect rep. all are the same. the needles are all the same length too. don't u agree with me??
