I recently purchased a Dive Master 500 241428 from the now closed Cladmen.com which was founded by Esquire magazine in collaboration with JCPenny.
I personally opened the factory sealed box, unscrewed the crown, set the time and screwed down the crown. However, the second hand never start ticking and the minute hand continued to rotate with every turn of the crown.
No big dig deal I thought, must be a bad movement/broken stem/etc. so I'll just send to their corporate repair office in Monroe, CT and be all set. But instead I was provided a repair estimate for $75 on a 100% new still tagged watched!!!
To make the situation even more insulting, I found an entire replacement movement for my "$450" watches costs just $21.50! - http://www.esslinger.com/harley-ronda-hq715-5-xxhcp-quartz-watch-movement.aspx
