2nd TC sub has landed - LOTS OF PICS

It seems I have had a sub from every factory known to man...had to get my hands on this one.....Introducing the TC sub

V series case
TC's "v2" strap
1.8mm crystal
2824 movement
superlumed dial

I will let the pics do the talking and make some comments a bit later when I get a chance to look at it a bit more

You must contact TC himself (he posted a couple of threads) but you should really wait until he is a trusted dealer before giving up your hard earned money.

SEL's dont look that good. you can see the spring bars between the lugs and end link.

I gotta say...seeing your modded Noob side by side with a seemingly "up and comming top contender" you really do work magical wonders with the Noob Subs.

Here are my initial thoughts.....this is a wm9 v4. Lets call it that, BK coined it already, let me quote him from repgeek

I looked again. The TC sub with rehaut engraving is indeed an improved v3. I told George when I initially got the v3's from him that the crown hole area was cut too deep, making not only the CGs too long (the inside, not the outside) but also making the crown get too close to the bezel. When I assembled the v3 subs, I had to use my special crown tubes that let me create extra clearance between the crown and the bezel. Otherwise I couldn't fully press down the bezel and retaining ring. When the bezel was higher, it wouldn't hit the crown. That's one way to work around the problem, just not very good looking.

I think George eventually made the change to the case. That's good news. The improved wm9 v3 is indeed the best case now. Maybe it should be called wm9 v4.


I am not happy with the SEL fit on this particular sub, like all reps, there are variations between cases and straps and tolerances are not perfect but the lug area is cut a bit wide in this case. I have addressed this by swapping the strap ends from 6 to 12 and vice versa and centering the SEL between the lugs....it has helped 90% and at wrist distance, it is great. I will shoot some pics later. Perhaps TC can source me a spare strap that is cut a tad wider to help fill the gap.

We knew in advance this has the rehaut engraving, IMHO it looks off from gen, and I would like to shave it. The TW sub rehaut was easily shaved, so I shall see what happens with this one.

Strap is very nice. Clasp is sweet, SWISSMADE is one word, and the 1/2 link at the end is a bit too long compared to gen, the divers link stays put and is very nice.

The dial looks like a wm9 dial with superlume, same with hands

The insert is nice, it is taller than gen so crystal height looks short. Pearl lume is too large hence looks odd but otherwise decent insert. I have a gen insert and I cant get it to snap in, perhaps I can use the crystal press.

DWO is great, looks like BKs overlay and numbers are well centered

Movement is smooth in winding, I need to crack the back to examine it

CGs look good...I dont know if they appear a tad short, BK will come along, this is why I posted many pics of the crown guards

Rehaut, looks excellent

Crystal.....no Laser etched crown....looks great really, cyclops mag is perfect IMO, looks gen, the crystal edge has great bevel, I thought it was too short till I removed the insert

Bezel - assembly is like gen, and it has great click and is consistent

More thoughts later....

As for the modded noob, it has lots of mods and no noob comes like that from the factory, shaved CGs, different insert, pearl, superlumed dial and hands, BK overlay, new crown and tube, crystal's cyclops replaced with something closer to 2.5x, shaved rehaut

I believe he just sands it off the existing V series case. He offered it to me as well (sans insert as well I guess that covers the cost?)
