Posting intent on a sale for others to see

When a member posts, "pm with intent" it doesn't mean diddly to me or anybody for that matter. The seller may not want to sell to that person any who. This isn't a first come first serve unless stated in the sales post.

The only thing that I find helpful to potential buyers is when the SELLER posts "On Hold" and then "Sold".

I always assumed a "pmed with intent" post meant "pmed with a lowball offer and/or unreasonable demands, so please don't make a real offer".

I've had no problems buying as a newb, because I pmed something like this: "Hi I would like to buy your watch, please confirm total price and send me your paypal address."

Wood-duck!!!! :p

Haha.... I've never really had any dramas at all. Aside from being scammed a couple of times lately, the sales section has always been pretty good to me.

I love threads like this one - somewhat controversial in terms of the 'well, that was completely unnecessary' stakes, but always good for a bit of banter.

IMO someone's "intent to purchase" is different from "having the right to sell to whoever I want". While everyone should have a right to choose their buyer, and I myself would prefer selling to someone who doens't have zero or negative feedback etc. - I also believe that everyone should be given a fair chance. For example, there's no point lusting over a watch and commenting on it and going through a sleepless night thinking about a beautiful.. lets say vintage PAM.. and then waking up to find out that it's been sold, when you're thinking you already offered the asking price first. Isn't that what a free market is? You put up the price, the first guy who comes to you has the right to buy it. If you say no, let him and the others know about it. Either that or sales should happen by PM only - thus making it easier for everyone :)

Okay.guys. this whole thread was my fault.
I told the OP to start a poll and see what the other members thought.

Like I said before, it is not practical to make buyers post/announce when the send a PM to a seller. I sent my PM at a stop light! I had no time to post a reply. The light turned green.

I did post that I paid right when I logged out from Paypal. :)

But to loose out on buying the watch, taking it out on me via PM and starting this thread.......

I wish you would have used my options for the poll.

So, texting while driving.

OK, here is my $0.02

Don't flame me for thinking out loud. I'm just an armchair QB.

I appears that the author of thread was pissed because he thought he was first, he was wrong. He's a NOOB. He did back down and was polite about it on the post. Heck, I've not seen anyone offer an apology here without really offending anyone., after all, the icon is question is here to use. So "Quit whining" sorry, couldn't resist

I do agree that it it's not required to post intent, it would have been the polite thing to do. back to the texting while driving thing

I have no clue what was said on PM, and in public I really dont care, but Q5, no offense, you were kinda rude to the guy. IMHO. You are after all a Moderator.

Burt.

PS Edit: For a first poll, the author hit a nerve and got people talking.

Since the popcorn is all gone, I think we should focus on the 7% who is not sure.
