Something along these lines?
PM'd with intention to buy, ask four or five questions (2-3 which are answered in sales post), haggle over price, commit to agreed price, request PP info and take 2-3 days to decide if I really want it. Also intent to ask within an hour of posting payment for tracking number, and follow up every day until the item arrives at which point I will shoot off an ugly PM complaining about the discrepencies not disclosed in the seller's desc and within an hour post a flaming bad review of the transaction claiming member"X" has scammed me?

Is this close?

Well yes kinda like that. Its the reason to not mark a sales post as sold until the funds are paid. I know I'm not waiting on some guy to make his mind for 2-3 days F that, I move onto the next buyer, the serious guy, the member that says I will pay now, give me instructions, has a valid PP account, member in good standing and so on.

Now as in any sale your gonna get your jackoffs, your pic collectors, your mulitple questions askers, and all the BS that goes along with any sale and this is understood infact its expected, everybody wants something for nothing. But theres a long line of guys that will say I want it, I will take it, its sold and then when it comes down to paying they disappear.

So never mark a item sold until the item is paid for, unless you like to be jacked off, LOL.

I've purchased several watches on here. It's very rare that I delare an interest on the open forum. I prefer to do it all by PM.

This way you gain an advantage. If you really like a watch try to get in there first and behind the scenes.

At the end of the day it's seller discretion. I don't have a problem with that.

I'm a bit the same, BB...

Really though, i think this thread paves way for people to play the blame game when they get their panties in a knot! If the item is sold, withdrawn, stolen or grew little fake watch legs and toodled off never to be seen again, before you express your intent, then so be it - man up and live with it... Why sweat it over and above the obligatory exclamation of '*f@ck a brown and green duck, Batman - I really f@cking wanted that f@cking watch and the retarded f@cking seller/buyer hasn't posted their f@cking intention to sell to/buy from me*' while punching the desk?! A perfectly rational outburst like that will make one feel much better, and is sort of like birth control for threads like this one...

But, herein lies the problem - it's not in the current practices or sales rules, it's the knickers, and their knots. Take issue with missing out and it's you who needs to change, not the rules.

Actually, just yesterday I expressed interest to buy from a great seller at 2am, before climbing into bed for a wee nap. Upon my rising 5hrs later, I proceeded to eat, sh1t, shower and shave and while checking in on the forum during one of the aforementioned activities, I noticed the seller had agreed to sell to another fine member after not hearing back from me... I was PISSED, and proceeded to attack him with my keyboard, before realizing I was the dick that didn't tell him, so it was on me and I very well should have lived with it.... Being a champion though, he righted everything and all is well, but I apologized for acting the falic tool.

There's a profound saying that goes a little something like this; 'when the phone rings, answer it...'

The phone ain't ringing' boys, so grab a beer and a stogie, and chill the f@ck out...

Quite. regrettably in this case the condom had a hole in it 'cause such outburst happened and we still got this thread.

Well said on the rest of that post as well Shanno. I think you just summed the whole thing up rather nicely.

I think (from a buyer's point of view) that sending PMs with a ton of questions/asking for pics/etc is all well and good, but doing so puts one in jeopardy of losing the watch to someone who is ready to go "right now".

I also think that sellers should definitely pick and choose their buyers...I don't think it would dissuade newbies from buying. If anything it could motivate them to be a more active part of the community through posting and upgrading to VIP to have a better shot at those picky sellers.

I read the situation/sales thread that the OP posted about, and IMO it was simply an issue of being beaten to the punch, which I regard as fair. Sellers shouldn't be obligated to post about the status of a transaction other than it being sold...updates are nice, but bottom line: If you want a watch, PM the seller ASAP to avoid having it sold out from under you, because as much as it sucks IMO it's still fair.

I was watching the SOSF sale in question. No doubt the OP of this thread was disappointed (and maybe a little embarassed?) when, after posting a declaration that the watch was his, he found out that someone else had beaten him to the punch.

All potential buyers need to remember that until an agreement is struck with a SELLER, nothing is final, regardless of who posts what or who supposedly PMs first. Though obviously a potential buyer is free to post the status of actions they themselves have taken, it doesn't necessarily entitle them to anything in the way of preference or priority. There is no such thing as calling "dibs" on someone else's property. And finally, no one other than the seller is in any position to make claims about the status of a sale or order of entitlement.

Though what the OP is asking for is already being done by most buyers, enacting a policy to force them to declare that they've taken action via PM is neither enforceable, nor anyone else's business. It's called a PRIVATE MESSAGE for a reason.

Few-and-far-between as they might be, Col - I do occasionally have the odd moment of brilliance...

it's common to get strange emotions when you get dissappointed somehow. this is just taking it too far
if the seller, who is in his place to sell to whoever he desires, decides to withdraw the watch, what should we do? drag him to court? if he chooses a different buyer than the first to post on the thread? ban him?
I understand being dissappointed by loosing out on a member sale, but hey, we all tried that.
mind you, we could change the rules to say. I reserve the right to let some random member choose for me who this goes to .......
