I got "into" watches on TZ, back in the last century >>>
I soon realized that I couldn't afford to collect new ones, so I concentrated on vintage stuff..I learned how to shop for bargains doing that, and ended up finding a BNIB Omega Dynamic chrono on the "bay" with a $435. BIN price on it...I jumped all over it, and still own it...But when after @ 4 yrs, when I discovered that a factory service on it was going to cost more than I paid for it, I got into the rep scene...I soon discovered that by carefully scouring the rep f/s boards, some great bargains were occasionally available...I built my collection, concentrating on decent quality reps that were being offered up at low prices because they might have some small problems that I could fix myself using the knowledge I had accumulated by being around watches for so long...
I have drastically curtailed my buying lately, mainly because prices have gone whacko on many very ordinary models, but I did manage to pick up this one last week...It was in 95% new condition, but was lacking a CG screw, and it is an "old school" model 212, that has the lo beat 7750, and a non sapphire crystal...
The sapphire lack means nothing to me, since at my age, I don't get rough much any more, and the movement appears to be one of the nicer finished examples of that genre....And I was able to find a replacement CG screw for it in my junk drawer...When I was able to negotiate a 2 figure "delivered" price on it, I jumped!!:
I have bought virtually dozens of very nice watches like that, and I even wear my Omega Dynamic once in a while too!!
