Hello Everybody,

I am having concerns about Angus and Pure Time. Has anybody else had trouble with the general service and performance of this outfit. I was just wondering because I am teetering on the brink of being specific with my complaints. Any news please?

Thank you.

I have sheaves of emails from Angus and Nikki, but I havent got a support ticket? I assumed that since I was talking to them that was it?

No - a support ticket here on RWI to see if the Mods here can help get PureTime to work out your problem.

And you'll need to be a bit more specific about the problem for us to determine if it is a problem with them, or an unrealistic expectation on your end.

Nope, please submit a ticket. I'm behind with work ATM but I'll be catching up on them tomorrow.

Your "terrible problems" post is very vague, why start a thread?

Because jeff i do not want to blast the Guy yet by revealing what service (or lack of) he has given me, because it might just be that he is having problems we don't know about that are hurting him, and this might be evident with other people having a bad experience with Puretime over the past 6 weeks.

Are you kidding me? Thread titled "Terrible Problems with Puretime Service", but you don't want to "blast the guy"?

If you're going to post something like that, at least post what the problem is. That way people can decide for themselves if you have a legitimate gripe or if you're another drama queen whiner.

Based on the hypocrisy thus far, I know which way I'm betting...

I have to agree with BD. You should not have posted at all unless you are willing to give the entire issue, and first contacted a mod or admin to help you.

Roger said it best also.

If he's having problems which will affect communications and order fulfillment, then all the members here deserve to know about it.

What an extraordinary series of replies! Where is all your goodwill? You are a very ruthless lot!

Do you really want me to air all? If you had a business would you like a complainer to do a bit of research first rather than wade in for all to see?

I do not like being called a drama queen, there are many more important things to be uptight about in life, like cancer for instance, so please do not be so unpleasant.

OK to satisfy you all, and to screw up PureTime here is my gripe!

I have started a support ticket last night.

"I bought for $198 a Red Submariner with open 6's from PureTime in early August. I was promised QC photos by Angus but none came. I also paid for a waterproofing test, but the watch left China and was not done.

The watch had the following faults on delivery:

The bezel cover with markings came off.
The bezel span around with no clicking at all
The bezel was loose and rocked up and down
The winder had a grinding not smooth action
When trying to change the date/time the winder had a very inprecise and clunky action, difficult to engage.
The pearl was off-centre, very obviously.

and lastly,

The watch lost 5 minutes a day.

I asked for a replacement and the watch was sent back. Receipt was confirmed on the 26th September and i asked for the promised refund of shipping to be paid back to my PayPal account. No payment made yet.

Since then I have been sent two tracking numbers that do not work, and the excuse is the Chinese holiday 1-7 th Oct, but it is now the 20 th and Angus is still trying to fob me off with the same old tracking number that doesn't work.

I am worried that again i will be sent a watch without first QC pictures, and again without the normal check re timekeeping and water fastness, this last point is important as the whole point is to be able to wear and forget.

Can anybody be of any help, please? Many thanks.

I have seen a few posts recently regarding very bad service from puretime. I was considering buying a DJII from them, but think I'll look elsewhere! Do the mods here have a big influence on the TD's? If so I think they need to politely tell PT to buck their ideas up.

First of all I can understand the frustration that comes from a series of events like this. Secondly, as I've said before, if resolution cannot be had from the dealer then you go to the support ticket. If it cannot be resolved there, then finally, you can raise this as a topic of discussion on the boards.

On the issues you had:

The bezel cover with markings came off.

It's just a small strip of aluminium stuck on with some sticky tape, unfortunately this does happen, all you need to do is glue it back down with some Gorilla Glue or some Hypo cement. Not a huge issue.

The bezel span around with no clicking at all

It's not supposed to click, it's a vintage sub.

The bezel was loose and rocked up and down

Not the best situation but the bezel assembly with a retaining spring is not the best in the world. Whether you pay $50 or $198.

The winder had a grinding not smooth action

The watch has an old swiss movement in it. This will most likely have been pulled from an old watch, or be reconditioned or be in need of a damn good service. It's an old movement and probably not well looked after. A bit of research on this would have saved a headache.

When trying to change the date/time the winder had a very inprecise and clunky action, difficult to engage.

See above

The pearl was off-centre, very obviously.

All that takes is buying a better insert off ebay or one of the aftermarket parts suppliers.

Welcome to the world of vintage reps.
