Finally got my MBW TT Sub from Narikaa. (He's a great guy to deal with by the way, and best of all speaks english!) it came well packaged, but late due to the woefully ponderous USPS. The watch was wrapped/mummified in bubble wrap and plastic for protection. It was in the plastic MBK mall bag, and then inside a velvet green bag and came with a yellow cleaning cloth. Nice!
First the gripes with this rep. the dial lume is pretty weak, which is par for the course for many reps. But this watch isn't cheap at almost $450. A super lume would be nice. The number 6 marker is a hair scewed, but is probably just unique to this individual dial. Others I have seen are perfect. Also it has the old style date wheel font. The sides of the SEL are not wrapped either. All this is minor stuff many would just never notice. Unless the watch is right up in your face, the sides of the SEL are just not noticable. The sticker girl needs her eyes checked putting a 116613 label on the back too. There's not much to gripe about with this watch really.
Now the good stuff. The watch itself is heavy and isn't cheap feeling like some of the reps you get. The gold is bright and shiny, and Reg tells me in the all the years he's sold these there's never been a complaint of the gold wearing off. Sounds wrapped to me, although its not confirmed. It has gen bezel construction, and I didn't have mine out of the box 5 minutes before I had a gen insert in it. Best part of this watch though is the dial color. It's better than the WM9 by far, and right up there with a gen. It's a deep cobalt blue, and the crisp gold lettering compliments it perfectly. In some shots this watch may look a bit wokky. It's not by much, maybe by a degree shallower angle than a WM9. In person it looks great and has a nice rehaut depth. It supposed to be an ETA movement, but I can't confirm that, although it is a high beat 28K movement. Stamping on the clasp Coronet is deep and clear, deeper than the WM9's. The CG's are not that far off the WM9, but could use a trim if thats a big deal for you. To me it's not. All I see is that brilliant blue dial. There's not many good choices out there for a blue/gold 16613 but this is one of them.
Here's some pictures. I put the MBW next to my WM9 because it's the high standard for the 16613. The WM9 is the one without the rehaut engraving. from an arms length, you could not tell them apart.
