Are these purchased from a dealer or private seller? Most dealers will guarantee their watches through customs and resend.

I'm hearing lots of horror stories about German customs recently.

$890? Ouch. Sorry to hear that. It's a lot of coin.

Allways ask the dealer to send the watches in separate packages.

My story became one more for that list! I neer thought this was going to happen, but it's just the risk we all assume for doing this...

OK I see. He could have warned you, it is known that Germany is a risky destination for reps. Sorry for you : yes, ask the dealer to apply his replacement policy, and this time transit through UK or an European buddy.

I will do it... But now I will do as I was used to... Ask to send them over here and only after this, send only the parts for servicing...

That sucks!!!!!!! Its a lot of money... Nowadays all asian packages are of high risk at custom check, even more when a rep watch is involved...

Oh what a bummer....The customs hawks don't see all the pain and anguish that we have to go through to acquire our reps and then they don't waste a moment pouncing on them.....All the hard work of screeing QC pics goes in vain.....I hope your dealer offers to resend the package and hopefully this time, it gets to you without a hitch.....

German customs are notorious not for seizing watches, but for watches that has LEATHER strap or any kind of leather in the package.

theres definately some funny stuff going on with german customs. I sold a panerai to a fellow member here and german custom intercepted the package, they didnt seize it but however did decide to charge a crazy customs fee. The member decided to refuse the package due to the fees and it was supposed to be shipped back to me but i havent recieved anything back and its been almost 2 months.

i guess some german customs agent is sporting a pretty nice pam 002...lol

Customs officers are only doing their jobs.

It is like knowing the speed limit, speeding anyway and then getting mad at the cop who catches you and writes a ticket.

It is just a risk which once in a while comes true. No one is to blame.

Very sorry to hear this. Big loss for the OP.

But: All of this is well known, especially to my fellow german members

There are so many possibilities to avoid customs problems.

@OP: Please give me a short PM for some good advice, if wanted.

Wow that's scary. I was 100% going to have my next watches shipped directly to UWE for modding before coming to me. I guess when I do that I'll have to have them shipped directly to UWE from a EU based dealer.

Who was your dealer? Were they seized BEFORE or AFTER he did the mods? If you used a trusted dealer from the boards, you'll get them resent no problem.

ALL German Customs officers wear really nice watches! Hasn't anyone noticed? :)

Sorry about your loss. Let us know when you plan the funeral.
