Dude, I did not say you will get market rate when pawn things. But a well beater rolex And a mint rolex makes hell lot of different.

Are u assuming again?

I said clearly I am assuming... we are arguing over a poor sap that doesn't exist who has financial woes but (ironically) is financially educated because he can take 5K and turn it into 25K.

Unfortunately, this financially educated poor sap who doesn't exist was stupid enough to play football with his rolex everyday which depreciated the value of his rolex to a few hundred dollars... What an idiot!!

BY THE WAY... i was being nice with those numbers. you would be lucky to get 35% of the current market price, mint condition or not from a pawn shop.

Seriously dude, you getting emotional here.
No pawnshop will take in a rolex without considering its condition.
I am not talking about minor scratches since the watch is a daily beater...

Unless, it's 60percent off the current prices, some counterfeit group source for rolex movt to make a great Franken so. Cosmetic parts are not very important.

The world changes everyday. Nobody can predict their future. Even mike Tyson once a rich boxer can fall from grace. So I think we all shall nit buy expensive stuff.
I partially accept your point Omega88 - businessmen and entrepreneurs have fluctuating incomes and fortunes. But Mike Tyson is a terrible example :) His career earnings were huge, but he still lived beyond his means and spent extravagantly on cars, property, bling jewelry, watches, and a massive entourage.

in cognition that the pawn discussion is going nowhere, let me ad my useless 2 c. - if I had to sell my gen sub at the pawn shop, then I would absolutely have to sell another one the next month too, or the month after. -I believe that was what phillymeant too.
if you have a house and kids and all that, the amount earned from selling a gen sub will get you like a months worth of dough. so you're getting ahead by 1-2 mths by selling it, why bother then?

to the original question, I'd keep the watch and and keep it and keep it!

I'd wear it into an AD... When the dude behind the counter says claims it's a fake (hypothetically) I say something like this (courtesy of BMECliq):

I drive a porsche worth more than your ******* house is, learn to treat your customers with respect. Me and my boys put people like you behind bars just for the ******* fun of it.

Then walk out... Maybe then go to the pawn shop or rob a bank...

+1 for that!

Subs are great with any attire. If it's good enough for Brian Williams to wear on the NBC evening news, it's good enough for me to wear with a suit.
