I think this is a rare situation for both buyer and dealer.
It's unfortunate but I feel both are genuine and have handled themselves as best as possible.
This would not put me off from buying from Angus, but I do agree that the best option for both parties would have been a refund.
Best of luck to you both and hope this ends amicably.

Bonesey I also agree some mod/admin presence would have been nice to see and reassuring to us all.

The OP stated in his opening post that he already went through two “Admin assisted processesâ€.

I shipped on 11th and it is actually posted on 12th and you started the thread on 13th. Please keep us updated. Again if there is any problems, please contact me first before posting on the forum, not only to me but to all other dealers, thank you.

Aw come on Angus..........

This thread was started on 5-12-2011 @ 6:12 PM, it's RIGHT THERE on the first post!

Anyone wants to look up the package here's the EMS # EE614395168CN

Posted on 5-12-2011 @ 20:55:00 (8:55 PM). My email from Nikki giving me the tracking number was sent: Fri, May 13, 2011 at 8:58 AM

I for one think it might be reassuring to future customers for you simply to say "know what, we F'd up, but we'll do our best to never let it happen again."

The more you talk the worse you make things. And let's cut the BS about how if you weren't such a caring, kind and coscientious dealer the watch would have been back sooner.....some balls you have my friend.

Oh and let's not forget your plea to others to please "please contact me first before posting on the forum".

What do you think I tried to do on SEVERAL OCCASIONS? You REALLY need to leave this one alone, the more BS I hear from you the madder I get. I'm usually a pretty easy going person but the length, breadth and multitude of your excuses here are really setting me off!

Not many dealers would take the time, or go to these lengths to keep a single customer happy when it involves so much 1to1 time.

Not many dealers would screw up this bad, have so many excuses, or let SO MANY emails go unanswered.

Not many dealers would let the situation escalate to not one but two admin assisted complaints and then send one (1) email to the customer after each admin assisted complaint, make a promise, not keep it and then not respond to the customer's emails essentially just going "dark".

You're right Bonesay, not too many dealers would do what this one has done.

Congratulations are certainly in order.................

When you see how time consumming these issues are, I'm still wondering why dealers don't spend 20 seconds answering an email. Even if they have nothing to say, just saying that you're working on it will make the wait way less frustrating for the buyer.

I think dealer shall honour the promise and keep customer update of the situation... You promise to give a reply on that day then better do it. Keeping the customer in dark makes thing worst.

Agree with Wiz on his stance..

Ever since I own an iphone and go mobile. I can quickly reply on any email or issue, that include my own work.

This thread looks like a case of US (and western Europe?) straight talk vs. Chinese (whole of Asia?) face-saving...

Wow... RWI is also the place to learn about international trade, we'll be ready to do business when/if China becomes the world's largest economy ;)

(I hope these aren't going to be my famous last words here before I get banned!)

Totally agree with Wiz, when a dealer takes your money, they have an obligation to communicate any delays or problems effectively. The rep market is a trust-based economy, not getting back to customers when you have promised to do so certainly doesn't promote trust! Hope everything works out in the end Tah!

Hmm... I have dealt with a dealer that says, "estimate to be 2-3 weeks" (day 1).... "it will be soon!" (4 weeks), "very soon" (6 weeks), "my watchmaker is building it now"(7 weeks)... 8 weeks is shipped...... probably wont arrive for another week or so.... just saying, if I wasn't patient I woulda blew up!!

False promises or hopes can sometimes be worse.

I do agree that it would be "nice" if dealers communicated after sales more often but I honestly think they really just have nothing to say. They can lie like my dealer just did to get me off his back but is that any better?

Edit: by the way this wasn't no $300 rep. This was over a $1,500 deal.

it's unfortunate this happened but it's not like it's a common problem. Dealers aren't perfect and when it comes to angus he probably deals more than most. If events like this happen... say what? a few times a year? i call it a good year and he is still a top notch dealer in my eyes.

the rep game is for the patient and tah... you were very patient. I would be pissed too and would have made a thread about it as well. If it's the last time you will ever deal with angus, I don't blame you. It's great that there's not one dealer to choose from!

Angus has been dealing for years and is definitely one of the most EXPERIENCED dealers in the forum(s). He is the only dealer that i've seen have any pull or say with factories. He's an active forum participant (at least tries to) and has done more for the rep game than most. It's easy to forget that when something like this overshadows history so easily.

What i'm trying to say is... stop hatin! (im not talking to you tah). This can happen to any of us. If you don't want it to happen (to this extent) there are other ways to buy a rep than through an overseas dealer.

My only concern and it kinda bothers me (i dont know why?) but 4 pages deep and not a single comment from any admin or mods... i find it rare that they don't make a presence in a thread like this.

anyways, i hope the watch arrives safely and in working order.

If someone is having this many issues and you can't make it right for WHATEVER reason, you should refund their money. We all realize that not everyone is going to be completely satisfied, but there were obviously some issues here that you could not or did not want to deal with so you avoided contact with the buyer. This will make people hesitant to do business with you. Seems better to just refund in a case this extreme and keep the rest of us feeling secure in buying from you.
JMO

I have to disagree ... that is what warranties are for. Unfortunately, the commincation broke down here. But there is no indication Puretime was not honoring the warranty here. You have to give him the opportunity to cure the issue. The man is in business, he can't refund for every small issue with a watch ... let him try to fix the issue. I understand it sucked to be Tah here. That is why I personally would have just fixed the watch myself and billed it to puretime, as was originally suggested by Puretime.

Anytime you ship to Asia and the have the dealer have to go to a third party for repair and then have to wait to receive it back to ship is going to create a risk that it will take a long time.

As Bonsey said ... "Not many dealers would take the time, or go to these lengths to keep a single customer happy when it involves so much 1to1 time."

Folks (other than Tah) let's not stoke the flames here. I hope everyone is happy in the end.

Mate, WTH are you talking about??

The OP has every reason to be pissed, the whole point in being a trusted dealers is to get issues revolved in a timely manner, and without the buyer having to hassle the dealers to know how things are going.

Admins had to chime in twice. Twice. So even if puretime wasn't going to scam him, something went pretty damn wrong. As far as I know the dealer has been enjoying the buyer's money for over 3 months, and that same buyer doesn't have anything to show for that money.

I'm not here to flame puretime, but on this one they screwed up big time, so let's not find them excuses, shall we?

Well I received the watch today.

I've attached pictures so you folks can be the judge.

Now please remember this watch was returned for a badly misaligned datewheel.

This is the original QC Picture I received (and the ONLY one!). I was a noob and didn't know better or I would have requested more pictures. At the time I thought "let's not be hard to deal with"......

Here's the datewheel as originally received.....

Here's the watch today....

Oh and yes......that's today's date being displayed the 17th....NOT the 7th...

Really? You can't see that the "1" in "17" is almost under the window?

It's quite far to the left in the window, but looks good horizontally centred. I don't see an alignment issue in the first picture though.

I believe you meant "looks good VERTICALLY centered"...right?

And when you refer to the "first" picture do you mean the QC Picture? It was certainly taken at an angle and when I received the watch the date of the 11th (which is in the picture) didn't look too bad. But look at the date of the 23rd which I took before returning the watch.

Looks like it needs a new date wheel; one with the numbers more to the right.

Alternatively, only wear it the first 9 days of the month!

Apologies, yes i meant horizontally. The picture with the date at the 23rd looks ok, difficult to tell with a cyclops that far over to the right on the crystal tbh.

The 23rd was F'ng HORRIBLE. Part of the "2" in "23" was actually BEHIND the window............
