Well after the success of the last one I though I'd do a more step by step 'guide'.....!
This rep came courtesy of Puretime... angus found me just what I wanted at a good price.
The first thing I (stupidly) did was re-lume the hands a baby blue colour as the rep had lume on the dial... but not on the hands!
so what I did was grease the top gasket, and tighten it up to see that there was complete contact all the way round the gasket... as you can see it's not bad
so with the case now in bits I started by roughly brushing the back with some 100MX grade adhesive... slowly working up to a 340MX grade... so still quite rough...
I then moved onto a 'hand file' rather than a sheet. Almost looks like a nail file and again using 100MX to get the course finish.
You can see the 'before and after' on the case here....
OH NO the buckle won't match the case.....!
No matter some TLC and it matches
I then bathe the case and the screws into some 'ageing' chemical followed by (pictures) a dip into some ISPA (99.99%). I use ISPA rather than distilled as it evaporates so quickly and as it is 99.99% it doesn't leave any marks when dry... it also seems to get the little bits of grit out the best.
Using rodico to remove all the old grease and residue gunk from the process we can then 'roughly' case up. I wasn't happy so I went back and used some finer grades to get the finish I wanted
finishing the back again....
going through the finer grades of paper
re-doing the buckle
and it's DONE! I mounted it onto a handmade leather strap to give it more of a 'pilot' feel.
On the wrist this thing LOOKS amazing... honestly amazing....
the full cockpit (thanks to Targa again for the one of the left
)
comparison to my modded 02
EYE CANDY!!! enjoy!
