EMS tracking say package "handed over to Customs"

Waiting on a package from Lay.
i checked EMS trackign this morning and it says my package has been "handed to customs" in Coventry.
Is this just normal procedure?
This is the first time i've ordered from a dealer so i'm not 100% sure on the process.
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Yes, that's normal, just sit back and relax

exactly this is normal it'll say that for a few days then they'll release it and all will be well

Yes, that is normal status in EMS, it'll have that status for 2days or more and will be released soon.

No worries, that's normal procedure. It will be out in a couple of days if not the same day

What everyone else said. Depending on which port of entry it gets to as well as the season (Xmas, CNY, etc) it can take anywhere from a few days to a month to clear customs. All inbound items are "handed over" to customs unless they are pre cleared into the US which on items of this nature is extremely rare. Only become concerned if the status changes to seized or confiscated.

Mines the same at the moment. But I had one a week or so ago in the same position, and it was only there for 24 hours, then it was 'loaded onto vehicle for delivery'

Once it's over here btw, switch to post office tracking with your ems number, might read a bit differently.

Actually UK customs are quite similar to Australian ... what is different is that not everyone gets Australian humour.

You're lucky you're not here in Canada. You would have to wait 2 or 3 weeks before it got delivered. CCRA are highly suspicious of EMS parcels.

Customs clearance usually means being assessed for tax purposes. It will usually get released in a few days...

My package was sitting in Canadian customs for 10 days - finally got released this afternoon.

New York Customs are usually fast too. When I ordered from Timesshops, it took about 12 days to get here, but it only spent about 6 hrs in Customs at JFK
