I have to chime In.

Just enjoy your watches. These are replicas. Replicas that are not perfect.

If something bothers you about a watch either buy the genuine, or fix the thing that bothers you about the replica. That may be modifying it with a new dial, insert, hands, bracelet, Crystal, etc..the sky's the limit.

To sit there and say every Watch lover and connoisseur can easily see the difference in the clean V3 I would disagree...

I've got several genuine watches that I have the replicas for, and sometimes I'm scared that I will mix them up...

Either embrace that these are replicas, and come with their own faults and enjoy the hobby and watches for your own enjoyment. The more you are into this the more you realize no one else cares about your watch, except you and some forum members.

If you can't embrace these are replicas, then fork out the money and buy genuines.

What is a good source/brand to get an improved crystal for the CF GMT? I just ordered one so I would like to get the jump on this upgrade.

I started out many years ago buying Gens till I found RWI. I find buying Reps is more enjoyable looking for the best one. I have not meet anyone excluding my bride in 10 years the can tell the difference between a Gen and high end Rep. My wife compared a Gen Breitling Super Avenger to my Rep version. She chose the Gen by the feel of the slightly sharper edges of the bracelet.

A list of reps, with the better versions in order has been posted previously in another thread. I've linked it below which may be a good started for you.

You'll obviously need to scrutinise the particular reps vs the real versions, just because a particular factory rep is listed as the best it does not mean it is 100% accurate.

There are plenty of threads on RWI comparing genuine watches with their reps but not every rep made is covered, use the search box.

As others have mentioned buy a rep watch because you like it.

Good first choice with the VSF 124060 Sub, I have the same version. (y)

fantastic... i'm new in the rep world and this list is very useful to understand name, factories, etc.

every passionate watch lover is immediately clear in the obvious details at first glance, that it is not an original.
This simply isn't true, I would like to know the "first glance" tells on

And

Both are mine, both Clean GMT.

Come on! Can't you see "the dial in most conditions looks more dark gray than black"? That's"immediately clear" "at first glance"!

I don't understand what your problem is with me not liking CF Pepsi? Actually, it's not that I don't like the watch, I just find flaws on it that bother me.

Opinions are like as*holes - we all have them - me, you, and everyone else.

I have my opinion and reasons why I don't consider that watch in serial-condition as a top rep. Someone else may consider it to be a top rep and I have no problem with that at all, nor I am attacking anyone who thinks differently than me.

Cheers!

It's generally because this kind of wording is overexaggerated. Fill a room of 1000 people, maybe only 100 will know what that Pepsi is. Maybe only 5 with in hand experience could even tell you that something is wrong. Maybe less than 2 people would be able to tell it's a rep. Maybe only even 1 can tell it's on wrist replica.

If your three critiques are the date mag is a little strong, the crystal is a little worse, and that the bezel action is bad (that can be fixed with some work) then I think these are all reasonable for $500. All 3 can be fixed with some modding.

New members nowadays are spoiled, the fact you can even critique these kind of small things shows how far the game has come. Compare the game now with the game in 2015 or even 2016, with the Noob GMTs and you'll see what we talk about. Terrible time bomb movement with details being wrong, bezel color and inserts not being correct, etc. I mean come on look at the SEL on this old Noob and tell me that's not terrible lol.

And are you not impressed by the other details? The dial printing, finishing of case, bracelet, bezel coloring and transition, platinum plating? Small details like the UV changing the bezel red, the color transition being very "clean" between blue and red, the nice color matching.... you have just focused heavily on some 3 minor details and called Clean bad.

Did you know that ARF uses the same parts that Clean made at the beginning? Without Clean you wouldn't have the nice parts of ARF. Clean rolled out those nice new bezel inserts for the Pepsi and now they've become standard throughout all GMT replicas, especially ARF. Fun fact. Clean's inserts are the best in the game. For Daytona, other factories used Clean insert. for the Submariner, the VSF sub actually uses Clean insert (not pip).

I have nothing against CF as a manufacturer (and according to your post it seems that way).

Yes, 90% of the details on the watch are excellently made / replicated, but I have a problem with how some very noticeable details that are important to me look.

I know it can be modified, but I have nowhere to do it because I don't have a watchmaker within 100km who wants to work with reps, and I'm not equipped, experienced, and skilled enough to do it myself. And I'm not willing to risk damaging a watch I paid 600€ for with my inexperience.

That's why I was looking for opinions on the best reps in serial form, and the list that the forum member @Speedy D shared is very helpful and gives me the exact direction I was looking for here. Im using now that list for researching and to find 2-3 best watches for me, no matter of the factory name. I already have one which I considered as fantastic in every aspect - Sub No Date. And Im already close to pull the trigger on Daytona.

You should read my guide. Its perfect for new members like you.

My point is not to defend Clean. My point is that when you say things are "obvious" at first glance - they're really not. 95% of the nitpicks on the rep forum is because you know it's a rep with modern replicas.

What are the "very noticeable details" that are obvious to you. Maybe your QC control wasn't good.

If you point these out maybe we can steer you in a better direction.

Please post some pictures of your watch. Maybe you got a fake clean!!

If you read about all the minutiae that's wrong with these watches, it's easy to get caught up.

If you think the clean GMT gives you problems, you may not be satisfied with any...
Even the great No Date VSF or Clean sub is not near 100%...but very good none the less.

Sometimes I wish @TESLA760 was still active.

I would, but quite frankly since I retired properly I'm now very busy around the place catching up on building stuff we've planned for a while whilst we have good weather, and there are so many like this these days I simply can't be bothered most times ;)

Since I just typed this out I'll leave a GIF ....

This is a great point.
I have 2 reps here, my gorgeous arguably (not) super franken GMT and this lovely serviced Deep xytal Pepsi.
The Pepsi winds and alters time like gen, the bezel click is satisfying. The Deep xytal is gen like, it is such a good watch.

The Franken? Obv it has that white gold and platinum gen glow that cannot be faked, but you can pull the crown into a spot where it does nothing (neither winds nor moves hands) and to turn the bezel is less than convincing, and as that's a gen Rolex insert I'm not keen on popping it off myself!

Make peace with things like that or get £10k+ out at Watchfinder!

I came across a Reddit post yesterday suggesting that the upcoming VS release may be superior to the Clean V3. According to TheOneWatches, it’s expected to be available in about a week. I’m still new to the hobby, but I thought I’d share what I read in case anyone has additional insight or thoughts on the comparison.

Well dang I just recieved my Clean V3 so I hope this is false. It's pretty spot on aside from the bezel movement.
