From reading this thread am I right in thinking that getting one of the two BPSD from a TD is not the amazing deal it used to be? Sounds like it's only the one from years ago that was really good?

No they're still good. The gen spec bezel assembly thing is not that big of a deal tbqh unless you're obsessive with making a franken.

However if you want value. For yje same price you can get a VSF Submariner A2824 youth version which is way better value objectively.

Another question. Trawling through the 400 plus pages of this thread and "Get a TC bracelet" keeps coming up. Are these still available anywhere or will I have to keep my eye on the strap/parts sale thread? Is TC a factory? Not much comes up online except back to RWI.

TC anything is only available used on the M2M.
No more new TC stuff anymore.

Just ordered the BP 16600 Polizia di Stato at Trusty. Will post pics once it arrives :)
So funny, I just placed an order too for the same watch this week as well!

Thought these were discontinued, good to see these still available at some TDs.

FYI these can be acquired in gen with quite a good prices nowadays so if your franken costs go into the thousands it might be worth thinking about getting a gen. Two months ago I got a full set for 8k EUR (though missing the anchor and toolkit). It was serviced and polished so it was like getting a brand new 5 digit SD. The black lettering on the caseback was still there and the crown on the clasp was beefy so it still looks like new and not over polished as some do.

This time I went for tritium, its a 1992 model, pearl has nice patina already. Little while ago I had the luminova SWISS ONLY from 1999 but this time I wanted tritium as I think these have more old school charm.

I can imagine without box and papers these can be acquired with pretty good prices currently.

But with gen you loose the parts hunting and your own build factor which is the best part of the rep / franken world that you won't get with gens.

That’s beautiful.

I’m probably 1/10 or less than the cost of a gen all in on both of my builds.

Than you're well below the cost of a gen.

Four years ago I bought on RWI a triple six franken which was awesome. A gen triple six with such a patina will cost a small fortune.

I have looked at some gen dials and inserts with patina on Chrono24 and these at least go for quite large sums of money.

What case is that as it has the beefier triple six crown guards?

BP has the slimmer 16600 CG's.
