If your buying reps for investment then your in it for the wrong reasons. Buy reps for the enjoyment of watches, do this and you will have more fun and enjoy your watches more.

@beo
Gens are not perfect how can you expect a rep to be perfect?

maybe the gen owners and AD's can spot reps a mile away because they are (usually) less flawed than the gens. i also agree on the above that the idea of being in the rep game is to enjoy the watch/hobby and not as an investment. face it when was a rep every really worth anything?

we love watches and have a means of owning stuff that is normally way out of our reach, so this is where reps come in. this way we can own tens of thousands of pounds worth of watches for a fraction of the cost.

Dude, it's a bleedin' hobby, not an investment scheme. If you want an investment I have a bridge I can sell you cheap . . .

Why was the dealer not contacted? Just send it back, and before he ships another have him send a pic of it.

@dizzy- how right you are! As the reps have gotten better, our expectations went higher. Some of these guys would be having fits over some of the stuff from even 5 years ago! And lets not forget the good old days of sending money WU and hoping you even got a watch.

I contacted the dealer, he argued the hand was correct, then told me there are different versions of the LV with thin and fat hands, etc. I politely told him No, sent him the LV reference page showing the variations but there is no thin LV hand

http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/thread/1225555808/Rolex+Submariner+16610LV+%28Lunette+Vert%29+-+The+%27true%27+anniversary+Submariner

he told me he wil have the factory change back to thin and maybe supply me with 2 thin hands.....

I told him to have them fix the issue on the ceramic sub as well, we'll see

Oh BTW, I dont send watches back, I fix then as much as I can and sell them to someone less picky than me, it is more gratifying and helps me lose less money and time

This best version Explorer from Lay has the wrong hands on it and its supposed to be "noobfactory" with QC. Some times I don't even think the dealers realize they are wrong. I didn't realize the wrong hands until it had already been shipped. When I get it I will either live with it or live with it....what can ya do....

looks like a great explorer.. no one is going to call you out on that watch! ...and if they're knowledgeable enough to (validly) call you out then new hands aren't going to fool them anyways. :)

+1 JC7

Also, I have been looking at the different dealers pics, quite a few appear to have the fatter hour hand on the LV versions.

I don't understand: I got my NOOB SUB about a week ago, it did not have the crown etched on the crystal and everyone on here told me not to worry about it.
In looking back at the specs it does not say anywhere that it had that miniscule etching, so that is my fault, not the dealer, but still, how can I get just an etched crystal for a NF Sub and put it in myself or have someone else do it (as opposed to sending it back to China?)

You don't want the crown mate, the gen is only visible with a loupe.BK even swaps out the crystal on the WM9s to a Clarkes which does not have said crown for just this reason.

Having said that, it will be there, just look closer!

rsh,

That is an awesome watch! I'm not too picky about taking a few "fantasy" liberties here and there, so I'm a HUGE fan of putting a Sub-C dial and hands on a non-maxi-case sub. All you need to do is have someone mix up a little blue lume concoction for your pearl, and you're all set.

That newer blue lume is incredible. Too bad the factories can't get that level of precision on the older green lume on our reps.

CONFESSION TIME for all!

I have a loupe, I used it, I didn't see the etching.
I took a picture of the SUB to send out, AND THE ETCHING SHOWED UP PLAIN AS DAY IN THE PICTURES!
So I flipped my loupe over to get maximum magnification, and there it is - etching plain as day!
You guys are right!
Some etchings you can see with the naked eye - those are fake - but the ones you can barely see, like mine, they take some work to see!

You don't want the crown mate, the gen is only visible with a loupe.BK even swaps out the crystal on the WM9s to a Clarkes which does not have said crown for just this reason.

Oh how right you were!

Regular mag loupe - didn't see it.

SUPER mag loupe - plain as day!

Go Mark Webber, go Alan Jones!
