Problems everywhere

MMs, by then EMS will have declared it lost, well and truly but until that happens no one is getting any re-shipping, simple as that. No company will re-ship until the post declare it lost and the same applies to our dealers.

Panerai153: yes, that is also making a huge impact. It is also producing a shortage of cargo aircraft as well as some very expensive shipping. Australia Post for example have levied an extra 10 dollar charge on all shipments to the US over 16oz.

I know about Australia. I buy cigars from someone over there. they were sending airrmail with no tracking, lost two boxes of mine. One was way before the problems started. Now another one was sent Nov 11th and not here. they have been really nice about everything, but they told me that they would be sending everything wrapped but no box to stay under the 16 oz limit, or unband them and send via Courier (I assume FedEX, UPS or DSL), but much more expensive. Unfortunately for us, those shipping methods are not available for reps.

How do you get them through FEd Ex's customs clearing? I have always been under the impression that if FedEx opens the box, and say a Rolex 16610 is inside, they will charge customs duties based on the value of a genuine Rolex not a rep, no matter what you declare.I'm not sure about other countries, but Fed Ex is pretty thorough here in the USA when it comes to customs collections.

Also Fed Ex is really expensive especially for overseas delivery.For instance from the USA (Mississippi) to Stockholm, FedEX economy is 88.40 USD for a 1 pound package. That's probably more than most folks are willing to pay for shipping reps.

Old members know these and won't throw threatens to dealers if the parcels are slow, since they know their dealers will not scam them and they'll get new parcels.

But some new members cannot understand and become panic even if dealers promise they'll get new parcels once lost is confirmed.

Dealers are more eager than buyers here and wish all members can get the parcels safe and as early as possible. But shipping is out of all dealers' control here.

So please be patient, since this is not a problem of a single dealer, nor a single buyer now.

That's the only reason for me to not threat my dealer as I know that I will get my watch one day...But I can understand the frustation too from members...

Ordered my first rep on nov 30 shipped on dec 15 stuck at GZ on dec 17.

I ordered a watch from GZ just last Saturday. First rep ordered in about a year but was unaware of the postal backlog. But the way it sounds Christmas orders will take longer than current orders, assuming orders go in before CNY. Embrace the anticipation, it's a sickness I know.

Even though a friend has asked me to get him a UNMMD, I'm gonna tell him to wait.
I'm gonna avoid ordering "anything" from there until this mess gets sorted out.

It'll be difficult to resist shopping, but will eventually save me money (in these hard times) and heartache over a 'lost' consignment.

I wouldn't wait. Those packages are a separate issue. I had a package ship early last week and it already cleared customs. Some guy is eating an apple sitting in a chair in a warehouse right next to the airport wondering what to do with those 300,000 packages.

I returned a watch to a dealer mid november, it has still not arrived...

On the flip side though, I order 6 watches over christmas that were sent in 2 packages - the first arrived a week to the day later, and the second was 4 days after that including a weekend... That's the quickest I've ever experienced by a long way!

I hope everyone get's their parcels - i'm sure they'll show up guys

5/ If I find any one has threatened to turn a dealer into PayPal or a CC processor if their demands are not met there will be hell to pay. Not only will a 5 fora ban be applied as well as a blacklisting sent to all known dealers but I will endeavour to make the persons life a misery and trust me, I'm good at that!. Blackmail is a dirty game and I will not have it used here by any party.

Thanks for the compelling post -- and advisory. As someone who has seved in Asia (SEA) and has studied & traveled in the People's Republic, I KNOW "things get done differently" and they are "not like us" in that respect. Being patient is important, but so is being reasonable in one's responses is also required. Contacting paypal or cc's is only cutting off your nose to spite your face. As someone who had to wait almost four months for shipments to received & had YOU (TB) and other mods intervene is the recommended way to go. Just my 2 cents.

Most parcels that stuck on the way via China Post EMS are shipped around Dec 1st to Dec 15th, during which period Guangzhou EMS lowered their price for shipping worldwide. So tons of parcels from other cities of China, crowded into Guangzhou. This makes the already busy shipping worse and worse.
EMS cannot locate detailed parcels inside the piled mountain in the airport currently.

But shipping is gradually back to normal here and the currect parcles move faster now from the tracking, since Guangzhou EMS raises their price again. So that means piled parcels will fly one by one finally. Then EMS will reply whether sth. is lost or not.

But three or four months is really too long. Most dealers won't let my buyers wait that long here, I think.

For shipping via Fedex to USA and Canada, it's buyers' luck if the parcel won't stuck at customs. Almost all parcels via Fedex to both South and North Americas are shipped via USA. To me, US customs seems even harsher than EU customs. Don't know the detailed reason, but the customs problem via EMS is about 0. So if you're from Canada and USA, avoid Fedex please. Just my personal suggestion.

I've no difinate answer to you here QQ, since I cannot predict what the shipping would like around the CNY. Current parcels are still ok here.

If you're patient, no problem to order as fast as you can.

If not, then order after the CNY.
