Welcome to the forum @schwenstein and @nosearch. There is a lot of good info on this site and many knowledgeable members willing to help out.

The Portuguese have a few different complications:
  1. There are working Power Reserve indicators. They work, from the perspective of counting down the reserve from 100% to 0%, but these don't have a 7-day reserve. The Big Pilot has the same movement and power reserve and mine keeps about 72 hours. So, if it says you have 3 days left on the indication, it's more like a little more than a day or so. You would never be able to notice this unless you were looking at the watch without interruption for at least 12-hours. So, this isn't a tell.
  2. The chronographs, from my understanding, all work correctly.
  3. As do the annual calendar and advanced complications. But those all cost well over $50k or more in GEN. So, you have to ask yourself, if people see me wearing a watch that cost the same as a 3-series BMW, will they believe that it is GEN? And I agree with the post above just stay away from these from the perspective of reliability.
The 40mm chronos are pretty accurate and the 42 with power reserve are considered NWBIG.

Use the TDs on the site to find the models you want. In my experience, JTime has a really good site with filters to do research. I haven't purchased from them, so this isn't a TD recommendation, I just like their site: https://jtime.io/

These are considered good reps (lots of color options): https://jtime.io/us/portuguese-iw371606-ss-zf-1-1-best-edition-blue-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a96355.html. These are the power reserve models that I believe are still considered NWBIG (also multiple colors): https://jtime.io/us/portuguese-real...edition-on-black-leather-strap-a52010-v2.html

Would like to add if you are looking for the 40mm chrono, a better option may be the IW3714 with the closed case back. It is slimmer than the IW3716 too by 0.5mm.

I missed my Port Chrono.....what a classic watch this is.

Wow thank you so much for the suggestion.
Why do you suggest 3714 other than for the thickness?

The 3714 has a closed case back so there is no need to be concerned on how accuracies of the movement to gen. The aesthetic of the dials for both the 3714 and 3716 is quite similar.

The movements on the rep and the gen differ even to newbies?

The rep 3714 as well as the gen uses the base 7750 movement and ZF has implemented the same transfer mechanism to bring the second to 6 o'clock position as the gen. Of course, the finishing differs but this doesn't matter as the 3714 uses closed caseback.

But the gen 3716 uses an in-house movement (if I am not wrong, the architecture is also based on 7750) with column wheel chronograph operations cased under a sapphire caseback. The rep 3716 is still a A7750 with a fake / non working column wheel on the deco plate. Doesn't take long for one to notice the differences in these movements.

In a nutshell, if I am buying a rep, I will get a 3714 but if I am buying a gen, I will definitely go for the 3716.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice!
I think I will go with 3714. :)

But which ZF do you consider the best? I literally would be fine with all versions but had a IWC rep before which movement was crap...
