massive massive project.. and what fitting for the crown that to stamp their Official HQ at NYC...

when you rake in BILLIONS... and i mean absolutely destroy the competition and make BILLIONS year over year.. they have the funds for this scope of a project that's for sure ..

Construction is rising on 665 Fifth Avenue, a 469-foot-tall commercial building that will house the headquarters for Rolex in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects with Adamson Associates as the architect of record and developed by the Rolex Realty Company, the 28-story structure will yield 199,000 square feet of office and retail space for the world-famous watchmaker. The property is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 53rd Street.

Early foundation work was still underway and below street level at the time of our last update in early December, when progress remained largely hidden behind the wraparound sidewalk fencing. Since then, the cellar levels and substructure were built, and recent photographs show crews assembling the scaffolding and shoring around the thick core walls. Jutting out from the bottom portion of the core will be several floor slabs, some of which won’t extend to the perimeter in order to create tall atrium spaces and soaring ceiling heights within the multi-story podium, as seen in the main rendering. The rest of the building features staggered setbacks and a fairly repetitive stack of floor plates that should make the tower climb at a brisk pace. YIMBY predicts 665 Fifth Avenue to top out sometime within the first half of 2025.

The following diagrams show the interior programming layout. Offices will occupy floors five through 25, followed by a double-height dining and event space with an adjoining terrace on the top two stories of the tower. A 50-foot-tall mechanical bulkhead and flat roof parapet cap the building. There also appears to be a small rear yard tucked in the southern corner of the property, as noted in the site plan diagram.

although one wonders what's the point of all of this when all you'll hear when you go buy a Rolex is, "sure absolutely! here.. let me help you get on the waiting list.."

Rolex should start making reps. They'd sell like hotcakes. They can take over the R-factory name.

They then would have the market truly captured. All the folks at the top of those buildings and all us scumbags down there in the street!

what's crazy is the profit and money they make

despite the overflooded Replica/Fake market not to mention the gray dealers/resellers etc..

Rolex's waiting list and business model is insane.. the power of that CROWN is truly amazing

I don´t think that the Rep Market takes away on CHF of revenue from Rolex, probably even the opposite.
Most of the people buying Reps cannot afford Gens, but maybe starting to save some money to buy a Gen someday.
And others like me own some Gens but rather wear Reps because it doesn´t matter when they get scratches.
Or maybe wanna try out a certain model before buying it as Gen.

But still it is a unbelievable to built this building there.

Saw a geezer in an AD this last weekend, wearing his newly bought, (from same shop) 300 desperately asking were he is with his gmt waiting time. I thought you’d been better off going straight to grey market rather than hose money on an omega to ‘build relationship’.

I live in NYC.. used to work most my life in the 5th Avenue/Madison Avenue corridor aka Billionaire's row and know first hand the traffic and amount of $$$ that'll get generated and flow to Rolex's fancy new building

......I can envision their floors packed entirely.. salesmen all around.. people with money looking to buy Rolex.. just lots of activity

...and yes they're just there to sign up for waiting lists.

i am laughing at just the visual.. at least when Hermes and LV built their buildings you can actually go and make purchases there

....anyone think Rolex's will be available for purchase at this place?

This is why I bought a rep. My local AD aren’t interested in selling me a Rolex. Unless I spend at least $10k on other overpriced crap from their store. I say Fuck them. I can afford a genuine watch. But these reps are good enough for me.

Same thing with certain models from Porsche.
In order to be allowed (!) to buy a 911 GT3 you´ll have to buy crap like an electric Taycan. Screw them.
But anyhow, it still is ridicilous what the Rx AD expect you to do.
My AD told me that there were times when he actually had to sell the Rolex´.
Those times will come again because the younger generations probably won´t give a shit about analogue watches any more.

I don't think many people understand the demand for Rolex watches. I'm sure many of you end up angry since you can't walk in and purchase one. It's understandable, but I'm sure they have done internal research and have data backing their position on how they do business. Companies like this are very thorough. I'm sure sales numbers continue to be high. They could flood their ADs with Stainless pieces and sell them all if that's what they saw fit. The reality is that their approach has made them more desired than ever. The average watch neophyte wants a Rolex.

It’s not really an equivalence. The GT3 is only available in very small numbers. To my mind, the 911 would be the equivalent of a Sub. And anyone can walk into a Porsche dealer and order a 911 without having to buy 5 Macans and a Cayenne Turbo first.

At least every gangster in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea and Japan wants a Rolex (Reps are meaningless to these people because pawn shops won't take them), plus those sales in every different field want them dearly. Not to mention most of the people from the above places want at least one Rolex when they retire. Anyone thinking rep business or your boycott can hurt Rolex is just like thinking you can stop a bullet by meditation. It is an entirely different culture in Asia.

You are 100% correct with that, but setting up a humongous HQ for the Americas in NY with large showrooms and everything, without the opportunity to actually buy something seems gaga even for Rolex´.

And I doubt it that one will just be allowed to walk into the "shop" just for looking around.
If I were Rx, which I obviously are not  , I would only allow people to come in on an invitation and letting them buy tons of nick nack.
And they will let people buy the really expensive gold & platinum models, just like I could have bought a golden DJ when I visited my AD for my last order.
