Hey guys, I have recently made my first purchase of a ZF AP 15500 from Ryan at InTime. My watch is supposed to arrive in a few days. As I have mentioned this will be my first rep, so I’m not 100% sure on the exact mechanics of the watch yet, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or point me in the right direction of how I would set/wind my ZF AP 15500 when it arrives. Any help will be greatly appreciated !

The crown is a screw down crown. It will come screwed down and the watch may be ticking from movement when shipping. Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise and it will slowly screw out from the case until you feel it pop out. In this position, rotating the crown clockwise winds the watch.

When you pull it out one further stop, turning the crown clockwise advances the date.

When you pull the crown out to the second stop, turning the crown clockwise sets the time in reverse. You don't want to do this except to make small adjustments. It will increase the wear on the gears. Instead, set the time by turning the crown counter-clockwise to run the watch forward.

When you set the watch the first time you will want to advance the time until the date advances so you know when the hour hand is considered midnight versus noon

Is it possible to over Wind the watch? Will I notice if I winded it enough?

I am a Little hestitant and do not want to damage the movement

You are best to just wind the watch until you get the seconds hand moving and then wear it. It autowinds whilst on your wrist and you are moving around. Remember, it’s a rep assembled by haste and a bit of good luck. Don’t overthink it and don’t overwind it as this also involves constantly unscrewing and screwing the crown… they don’t last long when you do that, you’ll get crown and crown tube thread issues eventually. Wear it and enjoy.

If you wind the watch manually (in the 1st position), then approx. 20 turns of the crown should be enough to get the watch running.

Thanks for all the advice.

The watch keeps stopping on my wrist while wearing. It may be because I do not move very much. It happens with other watches also.

I read about the 4302 movement and it seems to need more wrist movement that the gen due to the rotor, the fact it is not heavy gold, and the bearings.

Hence I was thinking to manually wind the watch every now and then.

That shouldnt be happening unless you are literally not moving for hours (as in sleeping). 20 winds and then moving your wrist to pick up water or type on a keyboard or walking to the bathroom should be enough to keep them going all day.

If your watches are stopping after a few hours something is wrong.

And if youre moving THAT little that your watches cant stay powered all day you should consider moving more for your health lol

:D I like your last part. But I believe then something is wrong with the watch because it happend quite often and even though I have a desk job I do move a lot. But I thought it may not be enough.

I even take it to the gym while exercising.
