Last days I´ve been looking around for an automatic winder for my gen´s and rep´s.
I´m tired of finding my Datejust dead on the table after not wearing it for two days.
Do you guys use winders for your watches?
Where can I buy a decent winder at an affordable price?
Are there anybody out there that built their own winder?
Does the winder have to turn, or can it just be rocked back and forth like a rocking chair?

I sell these. They are modular and I think they are inexpensive and quiet. Ask around. There are many customers here on RWI.

i have purchased a couple on eBay but they're not cheap. $60-$80 on the low end for winders that handle 2 watches each.

R2, how much are yours? And you say they're modular. Does that mean just one plugs in and the others plug into it (or are they battery operated...)?

Hi Bag, they stack on top of the other. One AC power supply for up to 12 (4X3). You don't need the power station tray I have pictured. You can have one stack of 12 if you want. :) And, they stop in the same position. So your watches are TDC for display as mine are pictured.

I also share Level's statement on the Acetimer's. They are pretty good winders. Make sure you get the Valjoux model in case you have 7750's. The Boxy's will wind anything. :) Except for giant watches like Grahams. These don't fit well.

I have came across some major confusions about using watch winders for automatic watch.
Some people say that watch winder can act as a constant maintenance of watch as it helps to distribute the lubricant in the movement of the watch which avoid the movement from jamming due to solidified lubricants when the watch is not in use.
While some say that using a watch winder will increase the wear and tear of the movement of automatic watch due to continuous movement so it is better to let the watch drained out of power when not in use.
May I ask which is more accurate statement?
Thank you.

I´ve also heard the same as you, both versions.
But as I recall it was my AD that recommended a watch winder, so I guess I´ll go with that.
I believe that I was told that it´s harmful to the watch to be completely drain out of power.

If I don't use a watch for a long period of time, I don't keep it on a winder, but I do try to wind it up once every couple of months or so.
