Hello friends.
Some time ago I bought this watch

According to it's indication it is an asian 2824 movement with omega 8800 decoration.

Failed the crown and the puller as the gears do not work. So I want to replace the movement and I have searched in pages like aliexpress but there is a lot of variety and versions of that movement such as v2, seagull etc, so I do not choose which would be the right one.

Could you help me to choose one?

I add another question: any compatible seiko movement?

The movement has three hands, date and hacking.

Probably many people here have watches with exactly the same movement.

Thank you very much.

Imo a keyless reset should do the trick. Also those vsf seamasters are known for a too short winding stem. In most cases its enough to just unscrew the stem a bit to make it longer.

If you want to replace it you can use:

A2824-2
ETA2824-2
Seagull ST2130
PT5000

Personally i would take an gen ETA or if you want the cheaper way ST2130.

Those Deco Plates can be swapped over for the new Movement.

Sometimes you also need to swap the minute/hour wheel from the oöd Movement.

Or like ugalord said first Check Stem/keyless.

Hello, I bought the spare part that came with the stem, gears etc, but the replacement did not work because it seems that the bronze plate that makes contact with the stem is worn.
That is why I intend to change the entire mechanism and if possible, change the decorators.

Basicly all are reliable. Gen ETA is the best you can get, sure.

But for Asian 2824 Movements i would go with the Seagull ST2130. It's a good Movement and has a good built quality imo. Never had issues with them.

Strange.. never had that issue. Which bronze plate are you talking about?

I'm in the pt5000 team. They are cheap and keep excellent time. Imo also better than seagull.

For swiss movements I'd go for a sellita. You basically get an eta clone that's on par or even better for cheaper.
Most of the eta movements in the sellita price range are NOS and not new. You never know how old the oil is and how accurate it will be.

Thanks a ton for all your recommendations, friends. Out of all those movements, I'm looking for one that's not too pricey to try out since it's my first repair. Can you guys give me a direct link to a movement on Aliexpress that you think would be good? I've also seen the Seiko NH35, but I'm not sure if it's compatible or if there's a lot of work involved. Cheers!

you can check out this reddit thread. it gets in detail how to remove the deco plate and disassemble the movement and has lots of great pictures. right now your movement sits in a deco plate / sleeve that covers the entire actual a2824 movement.

you replace the date disk on the new movement with the old one. The font will be different and the date is 90° tilted at the 6 o'clock position on the PT5000

Thank you very much! The movement looks of very good quality. If I have the ring with the days in black, will the replacement be compatible? I don't see the movement in black version on the store.

Cheers!
If its just a DW of course. Not sure if they have a different DW position like rolex where a DWO is needed. Never opened my smp so far 🤷‍♂️
But I would always just swap it as the numbers can be different too 👍

I see, then I'll have to do the test. I don't think the ring is very different.
Thanks!
