I was browsing the internet looking up some information about the Rolex Milgauss. I stumbled onto this review of the gens here:

http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/showthread.php?t=16110

This is the watch I found: a Rolex Milgauss Ref. 6541

awsomemilgauss.jpg

It's gorgeous (I think) does anyone know if it has been rep'd? I searched the sites of trusted dealers but couldn't find any, and I searched the forum too; found someone who had a similar one, but it had orange on the tip of the seconds hand, and the bezel dial looked wrong.

Perhaps I'll just need to ask to see if one can be sourced through a dealer...

Just curious. And thanks for any input!

Very, very difficult to find even a halfway decent rep of the Milgauss 6541. You could spend big bucks and go endure a few headaches to buy an MBK/MBW 6541 (you could ask Narikaa the next time he's in Thailand). It looks better than any other 6541 you can buy, but it's about as accurate to the gen as the vintage Seamaster 300 rep.

The best 6541 rep I've seen is a franken by someone on another forum. Of course, he started his project by finding a genuine 6541 case!

MBW case has a horrible bezel, tho. Very hard project.

I agree with you, roger.
Atm it'd be an insanely expensive franken.

klingsor: What a rare gem you've got, and it's just as stunning as I remember! And reading through your list of gens is fascinating.

eh eh ..tnks... they are only the ones i remember...

i can give a suggest to the people who want make a 6541 ...

MBW are difficult to source and are not so good as people tell ...

start with a no crown guard base case (there are some with strange bezel around... i don't want to tell the dealer ..) ... rework the case reducing a bit the lugs... erase engravings... buy a dial ...for a complete bezel it's better to send all to classicwatchparts ... also for the hands..

at the end you will spend a lot of money ...as usual...

Agreed almost totally, MBWs arent too hard to find, Reg can source em when hes in Thai, but their 65xx cases all have terrible bezel and accuracy seems to be going downhill.
Classicwatchparts have some nice things (apart from horrible inserts) but their prices are insane.
Kudos to your pics, mate you sure have a great watch.

tnks...

i must add the fact that MBW cases are totally out of measures... one particolar above all the crown position... take a look to my pics

Yes, I never opened a MBW 62xx but I think the problem is in the rehaut, insanely hi. That prolly pushes down the crown in that ridiculous position.
They are the worst cases amongst MBW selection.

The only out of the box I know about atm, is Yuki's crapz0r. Its insanely expensive and faulty here n there. Otherwise Yukis parts which are good, but with a gen mov it will become ridiculous. A guy was telling me they asked for 2.2k $ for a franken, only gen part being mov >.>
Silix might have some interesting cheapos to start a franken with uncertain results tho. Difficult project indeed.
Keep me updated on your projects which I liked very much so far, we share interest for the same watches, we might share experience too.

sure i will do... the only bad story is that i have no so many time to work directly on my watches now... only few minutes of my full week...
so i spend a lot of money with various watchmaker... also for things that i could easy make... time is the real richness
this is the reason cause i will write mostly here ... were real high quality modders are ...

Same here. I have little time to actually do the work, luckily I can be online while I work most of the times, tho so at least I gather material. I have been on this 5514 for months now. Then I will start a blue 9401 or if I find a nice red dw I might go for 9411.
I have seen now that Yuki have updated their offers with a new better 9401 with much snuffier hands etc.. but 900$ without bracelet is annoying.
Still undecided >.>

No, Yuki is not phong. He has very good aftermarket parts tho. As always with insane prices.
Not all he has is close to perfection, I really dont like his Sub inserts for example. But trit pearls are back, and hes the only one I know of having great ones.
Cases are good but pricey. Affordable compared to Phong anyway
