'Sticky' 21j movement

Hi

I recieved a U-Boat Flightdeck last Thursday. I am really happy with how it looks, in fact i can see it getting a lot of wrist time, but there is a problem.

Now, i have a few 21j movements, Breitling, Omega, Tag etc. I have never had a problem with any of them. The U-Boat though is now beginning to annoy!

It keeps sticking! I get plenty of 'charge' into the movement. Gentle circular movements getting the weight spinning nicely. This is normally adequate (on my other 21j movements) to put enough charge into it to last while regular movement on my wrist provides the rest of the charge for the rest of the day.

The movement on the U-Boat though is very sticky, and normally when the second hand is around the 6 o'clock position on the face. It hasnt stopped with the second hand in any other spot on the face other than between the 5 and the 7.

I have emailed the dealer, who has been very helpful in providing me with a solution of manually winding the watch, then pulling the crown out and moving the hour hand a few passes of the 12 o'clock spot.

I did all that this morning, then gently shook the watch to put some charge into it, but it is still sticking (Grrrrrrrr)

Is there anything else i can do? I seriously dont want to open the back and tamper with it cos it will probably all fall to peices and be well and truly ruined. I am also trying my hardest to avoid sending it back and being without it for weeks as i really like it, but if nothing I can do myself works, it looks like it may be my only option.

Any help guys?

Thanks

Dan

Why not just swap it with a new movement, return the watch to the dealer for exchange or repair, get a watch smith to look into this matter...

Thanks for the replys

Fakemaster - I think it may be what you have suggested. When the watch has stopped, if i hold it completely level (horizontal) it starts again. I would never have thought this would happen as i thought there would be enough clearance between the hand and the crystal.

It is really bugging me. I have worn it to work to try and see if wearing it a bit more will fix it, but it keeps stopping and I have had to reset it 3 times already due to it losing so much time.

I think a return is on the cards.

Thanks again

The second hand is probably hitting the crystal.

Fakemaster, this is happening with my rep too. Sticks between 9 and 11. When I turn sideways, I can see it is stuck on the crystal. Is there a fix for this or do I need to send back to dealer?
