Yacht-Master Question...

Was there ever an early version of the Platinum or Rolesium Yacht-Master that had the open 6 and 9 on the datewheel? I just had the 21j movement with the broken date change swapped with the spare high-beat 21j movement I had but the spare movement has the old style datewheel. The watchmaker was supposed to swap the datewheels, but he said "it looked too complicated". If there was a version with this style datewheel I'll leave it. If not, I'll probably send it to one of the modders to be corrected.

Nope, mate.

The Platinum was introduced in 1997, just five years after the debut of the Yacht-Master on the Rolex range of watches...
...So it´s quite a new model.

On that time, the Datewheels were already changed to the closed 6 and 9.

Cheers,
Spirit.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I'll have to get this date wheel swapped out or attempt to do it myself.

Fakey;

The movement with the old date wheel has been swapped into the watch.

It looked too complicated? Mate, find an actual watchsmith, this one is a noob. All you need to do BTW is swap the plastic card overlay, not the whole wheel but for a watchmaker to say that swapping a date wheel is complicated is beyond belief. Do not trust this man to change a battery in a Timex.

Thanks for the tip! If I had some watch tools I would try it myself, but I'm scared I would screw up the hands. @Fakey, are you still selling YM's?

I keep some dials and cases around for a special occasion. But as a regular thng no. It is one of those models that most have no interest in. You either love it or hate it.
