TS watches 6542 - fully modded

Following my review and comparison posted a few weeks ago HERE, I am now sharing how a completely modded watch might look.

Bezel has been disassembled, tension ring has been tightened.
Insert edges were sanded and smoothed in order to hide insert thickness. Paint was slightly darkened, then the insert was secured to bezel.

Bezel ring was sanded in order to bring out the brass and aged.

Crown tube was removed and put back in properly for a better fit. Had to say the crown remained a little wobbly nonetheless.

Dial was changed for a vietnam one, hands were relumed to match.

Finally a vietnam 7206 bracelet was mounted, it offered a way better fit than the standard one.

Here are some more pics:

That's all for now, hope you enjoyed the pics. Stay tuned for the vietnam build thread and see the differences :)

Oh Man, I miss mine so bad... this is quasi-exactly the road I would have been following and I think you did hell of a god job.

KiloW, did you shaved the lugs length? They seem to overhang so much on the stock TS watch.

No I did not and tbh I dont think it would be a feasible mod without proper machine work. It's not like you can just sand down the tip of the lugs.
I'd rather smoothen them a little and live with longer lugs (which I can hide well enough with a strap btw) than risking to have chewed up lugs which cant be fixed. That's just imho of course.

Really appreciate your insight! I love your builds!
somewhat I like the way you soften the edge of the insert to hide the over thickness. And on photo at least I prefer the colors overall. I think the Vietnam one looks too yellow and dark.

What is your opinion on the fully modded TS? Is it worth against the Vietnam 6542?

Now that TS increased the price by so much, it is hardly worth it. At this moment, I think it makes more sense to go full vietnam.

Well as the friend above me said, with the recent price increase I dont really know if it's worth it any longer.
Although some might consider lighter bezel colours, better date alignment and a slightly lower price as good reasons to choose this way.

This was my next watch purchase until the price gouging. I hope they come to their senses...

Love the brass looks on the bezel. May I ask how is this done?

Bezel is not made of steel, sanding revealed the brass beneath the plating. Then brass was aged with a chemical.

Did they give any reasoning why they changed the price so dramatically? Such a great watch, what a shame!

Thanks Kilo.
Ruby only has white ones and keeps telling me "might have black one in future" without giving any indication when. Will check with MQ
