Hi guys,

I haven't post any valuable contribution here so i thought let's share one of my first vintage projects here. A few years ago i fell in love with a Cartel 1680 red.. these vintage watches are just fine pieces of art which bring me into a great sentiment everytime i wear one. After buying probably every existing vintage rep out there, i decided to take a few steps up to the gen standards. I picked the Tudor 9411 snowflake without date from JKF(or JFK) i guess.

The watch will arrive soon. Here is a list of mods i got in mind and some parts i already ordered:

- yuki tudor blue dial no date
- yuki tudor blue insert
- gen sec hand
- yuki minute/hour hand
- clark t19 vintage (service) plexi
- gen 2mm pushpins
- gen 902 crown with 9020 tube (got one in sight, they are hard to get!)

Mods:
- drill out the lugholes to 1,25 or 1,3 mm (I've read 1,3 is better just to be sure)
- reshape the lugs and crownguards
- drill out(or remove) the endlink puspins holders

After a lot of reading Tutotials and usefull info here and on rwg, i decided to just take the deal and get this Tudor into the right shapes and looks!! I invested in a lot of tools, mostly from CousinsUK :)

I will keep you guys posted here in the upcoming weeks/months :) hope you will enjoy. It's my first try so please make a comment if you got any tips and trics. I will shoot as much pics and video's as i can. Hope you enjoy!!

I will also mod the dial, hands and insert btw! I did some practise on 30-40 watches last years, so let's see what the experience will bring

Update 1:

I received the JKF Tudor from M today :) it's the 9401/0 with no date and of course no cyclops on the crystal. I ordered the Clark T19 vintage (same as the service T19 crystal).. i can tell the difference between the JKF and the Clark. Some geeks say Clark is a no go, but so far i'm happy with his parts.. since it's my first project I may not be as sharp on the details with the replacement parts as the pro's around here.

The budget for this built is around $1000, so I have to make some hard decissions.

Let's drop some pics. I think we all know how the 9401/0 looks like, but I'd like to share the std pictures to show the differences later :) the watch is attached to a folded bracelet (poor quality, but will wear it on nato anyway) with 380B endlinks.. they have the closings for cases with lugholes, but the gap where the bracelet is attached to the endlinks is to big IMO. No problem again.. won't use the bracelet and endlinks!

I didn't had time to start right away but I was excited about the arriving of the watch. I haf to do something so I start with taking the parts of and tried to fit the Yuki dial on. I tried it on a 2836 mod to 3135 (ot) and it didn't fit since the dial feet position is different.. the dial is made for the eta 2836 so it should fit the a2836 i thought. And of course I does fit :)

So, let's try the Yuki dial on... I just was wondering how it looks. I will start mod the dial, case and stuff upcoming weekend. Just to excited to leave it till the weekend drops

Yesterday I also managed to mod the Yuki insert. I think I don't like de insert in a way of gen-like spec.... the fonts are to fat and to far to the edges.. Feel free to purpose any better gen-like insert here :) Anyway, i did mod it slightly. Will post some pics tomorrow. I use both my iphone and Canon 450D for shooting the project.. so quality will differ depending on which of the two I use.. sorry for that :) if HQ pics are needed pls let me know and I will try to get you one. I know sometimes you see some parts or tools you're about to buy and want some clear pics to tell if you like it or not. It makes the difference for me sometimes!

So... that's it for today. Not very much going on yet, but the fun will start this weekend!!

Oh. I got some tools from cousins too.. very satisfied with the delivery and quality of thr goods!!

I'm not going to learn a single thing because I'm a bag of potatoes, but I'm following because the product will be beautiful and I don't want to miss out on it. ;)

Update 2 (small):

Notable piece arrived today. May not be some "updatable", but I love to show and share:

Gen 703 crown with old style logo (early 70's):

And gen 7030 tube with new gaskets from Clark:

The original packaging shows 7040 for the tube, so had a little doubt about which I got here. After trying it luckily came out it is a 7030 tube fitting the 703 crown:

Compared to the JKF Tudor rolex crown (same crown as the 5513 5514 5512 etc models from JKF: to freaking big and ugly!!):

Gen on the left (I need to be more smart while taking these comparison l/r pics gehe, sorry)

I'm hoping this gen tube will fit the JKF case right away. I'm afraid the current tube whole is under 3mm. That mean I will need to drill and tape the hole to 3mm.. don't have the right equipment (with the right tap cutting distance).. will try it on later. I will ask you to be in advance: do you guys know were to buy a proper 3mm x 0,35 (tap distance) tap set?

Thanks for watching

Update 3: Reshaping crown guards part 1 and removing old crown tube

I started reshaping the CG's yesterday. Used a good gen 9401 picture to get the right shapes and seizes. Biggest thing on these JKF 5513 cases are the fat crownguards and lugs. I decided to use my new big drill with an coarse sanding dremel piece. Just shaped till i got the right size. Almost burned my hands btw  use some globes when you do this kind of metal shaping with automatic tools.. i'm not used to this kind of work so will learn a lot of lessons during this project [emoji23]

OT: some pre-shaping pics JKF tudor case:

Not happy yet at this point. Decided to pick the files and get a rougher hand to take of the bigger pieces of metal at the CG's. After the rough work I worked the sanding pad on the drill again. Result:

So far so good. I'll be finishing the case with p400, 1200 and 2000 before polishing the case up next week.

BTW, before shaping the case I of course renoved the tube. Have been searching for this tool in my hometown for half a day

And as I expected.. the JKF tube doesn't has the original 3mm size. So I have to buy myself some extra tools again..

That's it for now. Thanks for watching
