I agree mate. I'm glad you finally got it.

What's your opinion on this new sub? My first impression was that it wasn't a big improvement on the 116610, but that completely changed after a couple of days of wearing it.

I'm now finding it hard to get my 'fat' sub back into the rotation because this one feels so much better.

I’ve been a big fan of the 5 digit cases, I’d buy a 5 digit over a 6 any day, so when I saw Rolex announcement of the new 2020 sub I welcomed the return of the thinner lugs, for me it’s a more refined aesthetic. I grew to like the 6 digit. It it definitely looks fat!

I liked They kept the maxi CGs and the widening of the bracelet balances it well, it’s seems encapsulate the two 6 digit cases together perfectly. I’m a fan.

Received my vsf 116610LV and 126610 LN from Sead today and mightily impressed. These really are great ootb reps and both wind as smooth as butter. What I have noticed on the 126610 is that the recessed sel/lug relationship is less pronounced than the 116610 and whilst not a big issue to me I checked this out on Rolex.com and pictures of the 126610 on there shows the same thing.

Not sure if this has been referred to in the previous 217 pages. Pics of the two new arrivals with my Arf SD43.

I won’t be installing any Gen parts to this watch. No need IMO, waste of money and I doubt they are available easily at the moment. This is a great out the box wearer.

I fully agree.
The only gen part I would mount is the crystal.
And nothing else. The DWO is perfect , and then sorry if no one has ever asked me to see the DWO with the 10x lens......:lolzor:

After reading all this long and challenging Thread , I've reached my conclusion.
The Franken will soon lose about 50% of their value.......:trainwreck:
I've been here since 2012 and I've seen many evolutions of the reps.
But the quality achieved in the last 6 months is incredible.
Let's do two small accounts......
Until 1/2 years ago to have a 95% 1: 1 clock you had to:

1) Change the dial with gen or aftermarket best dial ( Ex : Yuki )
2) Change DWO with Gen.
3) Change Bezel part (full)
4) Change Crystal with gen.

So you had a great watch , but the cost was around 2000/2500 Euros....:cry2:
Now you buy a VSF and if you want the top buy the gen crystal.
Therefore......?
We wear our VSF without melting the brain.
Any expert in fine watchmaking would have a lot of trouble distinguishing gen vs rep.
And smiling I write , no one has ever taken my watch in his hands and analyzed it in the laboratory......:matty:
IMHO..................... :)

Good insight Stu, well done. It really blings like a genuine watch doesn't it! No need to mod a VSF, that's a very expensive game with increasingly diminishing returns the deeper you go given the cost of the parts!

Thanx Mate....
I simply analyzed the facts.
Fortunately I was able to sell my Franken 116520 created by my watchmaker , recovering about 80% of my expense.
And I publicly thank Johnny...great Modder and Mate.
Now , just wait for the "Clean DIal" and the "Clean Bezel".
Then the rest will be history.

Regard

Not had the opportunity to test the reserve yet - it's not been off the wrist long enough. Time keeping is 8 seconds fast to when it was set on 2 Jan. Not sure that time keeping is important during lockdown - I've spent more time on Netflix today than I have at work and I don't have another Zoom call until Wednesday.

You got some more pics with the stickers removed mate?

There are too many variables.
Temperature , wrist position , wrist movements , wear or leave the watch on the table , ect.
All watches have these variables.
Reps , Gens , manual or sel-winding.
These are the rules of the game...... ;)

Hahahaha I feel you, that PR is pointless with casual wear on rotation also.

i thought the 166100 was the perfect size but i guess this is the perfect size, same size as the dj 41mm,

What makes the new subs nicer is not really the size because its not a dramatic difference 47.6mm (old) / 48mm (new) (lug to lug) 20 vs 21mm (lug width) but the slimmer lugs, the bracelet and clasp.

To make the lugs thinner and more graceful, they expanded the width of the bracelet slightly. The watch itself measures about 27mm width at the end of the lugs, which is the same as a maxi case I have. So it's basically the same size, but with a wider bracelet and refined case shape that improves its elegance and proportions. When the Rolex 126610 was first announced I was ho hum about it and blew it off as them changing something for the sake of change, but they really did work some subtle magic.

116610 is 40.2mm - 126610 is 40.5mm - dj41 is 39.5mm -- don't believe Rolex marketing.

i think its the diameter that is different the Dial on the dj41 compared to the 166100 ln is bigger
