the middle one will get a gen dial and hands and gasket / crystal which is on order. On the right same franken as yours, only black dial. Nothing beats the black dial, the subdials can look so different.
These Daytonas are my favorite watches.

Please mate can you share some pics of your franken 116520 with black dial? What's the specs? Gen dial, bezel, and crown? Thanks :)

Johnny, nice job! I am attempting this myself next week.

Was the dial and bezel a simple direct swap? Any modifications or things to take note of while doing bezel or dial swap?

These Noob-based Daytona Frankens are really impressive. Thanks johnny and guru. Has anybody yet transplanted the Noob 4130 into the ARF 904 Daytona case? Or are people generally satisfied with the Noob mid-case now?

We have looked at it and it is possible to do but I think ot is not worth to do it. The crown on ARF is higher, so you need to fill the hole and drill a new hole 2/10 of a mm deeper. The case also needs to be .5 mm wider to fit the movement. So atm the noob case is good. SEL fitting is not bad, looked bad on QC pics but I swapped them. SEL on 12 to 6. SELs are only a QC issue.

Hmm that sounds promising if its purely a qc issue regarding the sels.

Very nice comparison of the Gen and Noob Daytona.
The noob is the way to go with this clone movement. Perfect. (Unfortunatelly I have now the ARF 116520)

Thanks for the write up and the pictures.

Thanks for the detailed info. The positions of the pushers on the Noob case are very accurate, so I can see sticking with the Noob if the SELs are not so bad in real life. If the crown height needs adjusting on the ARF, then that creates a problem no doubt wrt to the crown guards. The interior widening modification of .5mm for the movement is not a big deal, but I can see your reason for jettisoning the use of the ARF mid-case for a "best of" mash-up. After all, the positioning of the pushers on the ARF is inaccurate, the caseback is inaccurate, and the crown guard will be a challenge once the crown tube is repositioned for the 4130.

It is kind of the same mod as we did with the APs.But on the AP the crown was about .7 not .2.mm Pusher angle is wrong on ARF case, and just replacing them will not do it.

Agree, Daytona noob case is ok and SEL is a QC issue.

The problen we are facing now is that noob doesn‘t have any for sale. I believe the first run was not more the 100 pieces. 6-8 week is what I heard from a dealer because of backlog. But I believe it is not the backlog, it will be a new run with new dials.

So welcome in the gen world, waiting time for a 116500 is about 8 years.

I just knocked back qc pictures of two black dial 116520, the SEL was very poor on the 12 o’clock position on one watch and 6 o’clock position on other, I will wait until it’s in stock again

thnaks Johnny Depp for the review. I wouldn't call a noob franken a 99% copy of the gen though.

I don't own any of the daytonas yet but i've been studying both ARF and noob cases myself for a future build .

And while I also agree with what guru and slaughterer62 have concluded about the ARF case, i'd like to point out some cons of the noob case that maybe not many have noticed yet like :

- lugs tips are too rounded , especially seen from the sides compared to gen / this shortens the lenght of the case and thus make the sel fitment not optimal as well
- lugs look to skinny when looked at straight on . this may be fixed by buffing the lug edge a little bit. I have a hunch maybe the edge is too sharp and this makes the lugs seem skinnier.
- lugs reflect the light in a straight line all across their surface all the way from the lug tip towards the crystal / gen lugs reflect the light in a diagnal pattern towards the dial ( ARF is not better in thius regards as well ) btw this is a great way to spot several fake rolex cases , same goes for the subs, dj etc

The ARF has nailed the lug thicknes so to say from the pics i've seen but can't be sure until i get both wathces .
Lug tips look better as well imo but cgs are not as good as noob's , the overall shape is rounded less pretty and on the back side they have 90 degree angles where they meet the case, and that's wrong.

To close this, neither of the 2 will be good enaugh for me for now. I recon i could weld and modify the skinny short noob lugs but the extensive work will render the build pointless imo.

I love the black dial steel bezel. Noob or ARF ?
You has in your hands these watches, In your opinion is really a nice rep the Noob NO modded, only ouf of the box ?

If the esthetic differences to ARF are very little, the Nob is my watch...but if the difference is notables , I have gret doubts………….

Having owned several of these now and worked on Noobs to get them almost perfect this thread is really interesting to me.

This is my first post and I thought I would pop some pictures alongside just for interest as I hope to be able to trade complete sets on here shortly.
