Received watch on the 9th. For all the gold bugs out there here are random pics and random thoughts.

Pic of plating on inside links and SEL fit:

Wife kindly let me borrow a bauble of hers to check gold color...

Dial and random eye-candy:

IMG_1157.JPG IMG_1115.JPG

Takeaways:

I was pleasantly surprised by this. The gold color seems pretty spot on, I have seen far worse SELs, dial looks OK to me, I don't have @smoke or @QueTip's eyes of course - and while I can see a spacing difference on the = sign on the dial vs gen as well as a few other things, and that the bezel #'s are not perfect particularity the 0 on the 30, pearl/rehaut/cg's are the usual mehhhh....OVERALL I found it a pretty tasty rep for well under $300. Call me easy!

Ending it up with a pic of the gen to compare;

Enjoy!

Yes. It was kinda overcast on the 9th. Here's a couple more showing the tone a little better...

LOL. Will do...if I ever sell it or any watch I have ever bought- I haven't yet! You probably wouldn't want it anyways as I tend to beat the heck out of my watches...they are made to be worn as far as I am concerned.

Eye candy Sir. I like the matching ring as well, looks good. You would suit this 1965 Porsche 356c to a T!

Awesome! Yours? I love stuttgart's iconic offerings be they real or rep. From that pic it could be either LOL....correct 10 hole wheels, front end looks a tad "fat" for a Gen but could be camera angle...I would have to see the interior and where the parking brake is along with pedal placement....man this is JUST like the rep watch game! Either way it's a beauty. I did own this '94 964, bought in 2007 and sold in 2016 when the market went nuts on 'em...same color almost and cab also but not as pretty as the vintage models... LOL I'm jacking my own thread......but you touched a nerve with the car! Very cool.....

Unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to own that vintage car. However I do own this 911 SC 1980 all original, zero mods and that includes the radio! It's a 3liter/188HP and it's a beast to drive. Zero comfort but still a pretty cool toy. I concur that vintage cars ( gen or rep ) for me personally holds the same interests as watches ( gen or rep )

Nice piece, I love gold...hey, just a heads up, if you have access to a local watchsmith or someone you send stuff to, it would really improve the look to have the xtal pressed in all the way. Reps and BP specifically tend to leave the xtal a little tall on their sub-c 's..It should be almost flush with the insert, it would make a huge difference and take away a big tell..

Anyway, love the gold and wear in good health!

How's the watch holding up? I'm curious if the plating is still in good condition

It is holding up perfectly. Normal gold plating if done properly can last for years if cared for. It is only the super thin " gold flash" types that wear off quickly, or if there is an area of the object that rubs against itself.

https://forum.replica-watch.info/threads/the-gold-sub-bug-guide.387868/

That said-I am very careful with it, clean it after wearing, and have not scraped it against anything ( yet) and also since it is not my daily beater only wear it sporadically....I don't expect any "wear through" on this for a few years at least.
