Pictures above explain nicely.. Indeed gen owners may be do not bother with such details but believe me when someone you know has a gen for some time and look at your rep will immediately feel something is wrong if reflection/magnification etc is not as per gen

Do tc or bk watches have the black hole effect? 100% gen like or mid way between stock rep and gen? Thanks

I have a bk subc and I don't think there is much if any black hole effect on mine, but BK uses the stock noob crystal to my understanding. See pic below...

Here's a tc sub v6 with period correct gen crystal (with LEC and no AR).
The early gen 16610 D series doesn't have AR

This makes me happy I'm a no date sub owner and the DSSD doesn't have a cyclop :)

Just a curious question, but would a Clark's crystal like BK now offers as an option offer the black hole effect? This was not an option when I bought mine...mine is a v5.

As I said multiple times before, the real reason why all replica and aftermarket crystals have no black hole effect, is because they don't apply the coating on the underside of the crystal. They either have no coating at all, or they only coat the cyclops.
R coats their cyclops on top of it and the crystal on the underside in the shape of the cyclops.
I don't know why, but noob doesn't give a sh*t about this.

I used the clark crystal on my BK v6s. And the answer is no. No rep crystal can replicate the black hooe effect yet.

Its just a much better crystal that doesnt need a pedantic RWIer to spot. It's night and day, the Cyclops is clear, no tint, and a no brained upgrade for only $300-350

it's really weird that no factory has been able to produce a crystal with black hole effect.
although theoretically the technique is very simple.
all they need is a good AR coating like the one used on sunglasses.

Yes I agree.. What if someone takes the xtal and goes to an optic center so they can apply the AR underneath the crystal that should work? I know it is not that simple but at least will be looking much better.. In theory

I don't think it can be done at an optic center, because the coating is not applied at the centers, the lenses of the sunglasses come with an AR coating directly from the factories that make them.
i might be wrong though.

as i said theoretically it can be done easily, but it seems no factory care enough about it to make the effort of doing it, besides most rep customers don't even have a clue about it...

By the cost of getting the crystal coated yourself you have spent half the money of a gen crystal, so...

If the factories would do it, it would increase the price calculation by cents I reckon.
