Bought a patek from a member from state, shipped out around 2 weeks ago.
Was checking with Canada Post with updates, keep showing "Item has arrived in Canada and was sent for further processing."

Till today i got this letter from Canada Border Service Agency.

Send the letter to your TD. Should give you another watch. Ignore the letter. What ppl do south of the boarder.

You only waited 16minutes for a reply, give it a day or 2, some of us don't live here. *gasp!*

He bought it on M2M, no TD to send it to.

I'm curious what the member you bought it from declared it as on the customs form.

Sorry breezed through the post. How was it listed? 90% of the time the risk is on the buyer. Maybe the seller will be nice and offer something but don't hold your breath. Hope it wasn't expensive.

Guys,

if this was a sale M2M. Just say it's a return item for repair. Get the seller to make up some invoice for services rendered? Like "watch movement service". Not a big deal. Canada customs for whatever reason opened the box and found a rolex or what ever and are wondering why...

John smith fixed the movement of my watch for $85.00. And returning it to me.... Customs just needs a paper trail.

oh man this sucks. How did they know it was a "patek"? our customs dont usually open packages. unless your seller marked it as a Patek or swiss watch on the customs declaration form? usually if they think its a counterfeit they would send a letter saying that they have already destroyed your item. This one is asking for the bill so they could charge you taxes and duties, under the impression that you are trying to import a high value item undeclared. if so then thats a big #@$@@-up on the seller's part.

With that said, dont send them an invoice, letting them know its a replica will not change anything. Ignore the letter.

I dont want to give the seller a hard time since he made claims in the sale post that the buyer is responsible for all the risk after he shipped out the watch.
Just want to see what are the options out there.

The seller said he didnt put Patek on the package for sure, i believe he wouldn't lol. So the customs has to opened the package somehow, maybe just really bad luck on me.

Even so, you should have at least expected the seller not to declare anything on the package that would result in an inspection.

Like others have already said, get a note from the seller saying it was repair or crystal replacement etc.

I got a letter like that same deal on my recent order from Toro. I contacted him for an invoice and he said he would make one. It's been over a month and no invoice was sent to me. As per my letter the package will be returned to sender. Toro replied and said he would re-ship the package after he receives it back. All in all its been 2 months now and I have not flipped out. Exercising extreme patience here but honestly I wish Toro would just send me replacement units. Waiting like 3 months for a $1800 purchase is really killing me here...

Well, when the promised invoice didn't arrive you should have taken out a ticket at the RWI Help Desk so we could help . . .

So would making up a invoice for some type of service NOT be a good idea? And why or why not?
