Hello everyone!
So, I just realised a lot of people have small wrists. And while the Nautilus 5711 is not especially big with its 40mm, it takes a lot of real estate in your wrist if you have 6" like me. Being that I still really like that design, and that some dealers still have the old BP Nautilus 3800 I decided to give it a go. This little fella came in the post yesterday, for $188 plus shipping, and I can say I couldn't be happier!
1. This watch IS thin. I don't have a caliper so I tried my best to show how thin it's this watch. Essentially, 8mm.
2. Movement: sports an Asian 2824, so 100% reliable. And contrary to what some people said, it is indeed automatic and it does indeed have a rotor, it hasn't been removed to achieve that thinness (I know because I can hear the rotor spinning when I shake the watch)
3. Crown. Now that's a bit disappointing, it doesn't have screw in crow. It's just a push in crown, which I guess means the water resistance of this watch is the same as my Google Pixel.
4. Dial. It's a gorgeous dial, although BP went too far with the green in the mix. Depending on the light you get the proper dark blue but with direct light (especially indoors and warm incandescent lights) it doesn't look as blue as it should. Not a problem to me because not even a 0.01% of people I will ever meet has seen a Nautilus 3800, and it looks awesome to me.
5. Bracelet. Well, I was expecting some DHGate-level crap with the classic bumpy links and I must say I am very pleased! And you know something better? IT HAS SCREWS! Hooray! Those ho have a 5711 and have had to play around with those damned bracelet pins know what I'm going on about. God bless the screws!
Now, onto some watch pr0n, enjoy!
Took the bracelet off for some cleaning and lubrication. This is how small it is!
A comparison with my Black Bay 36mm.
And some shots with the bracelet still out. The bracelet has very decent quality for such a cheap watch.
Some customary wristies. I feel it's just the perfect size, and sits really well in the wrist!
Told you it was thin. Never seen anything like that in an automatic watch!
