[Pics] Review of A Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moonphase

Received this beauty recently.

So I'll start with the negatives, and roll into the positives.

Negatives:
- REALLY thick. Gen is 10mm, I've measured this at 13.9 mm with a digital caliper. There are other watches that are this thick, but don't feel like it because they 'football' out. This one just is a 13.9mm thick cylinder.
- The backside of the movement, while visually sort of similar, is not nearly as magnificent as the gen.
- The giant date font is a bit different than gen
- The date isn't as big as the gen version.
- The moonphase isn't as detailed (though it is detailed)
- Logo spacing on the "H" in Sohne is a bit off

Positives:
- WORKING MOONPHASE! AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL
- Dial finish is superb
- The seconds hand is finished very similar to gen. Just gorgeous to look at.
- Moonphase is adjusted by the small button
- Wears wonderfully on the wrist
- GREAT all purpose watch, works with suits and casual wear
- The strap is actually really good quality - thick and comfortable.

When you say that you can only change the moonphase by adjusting the time manually, do you mean that you have to spin the minute hand around constantly to advance the hours and days to in turn advance the moonphase?

Yes this seems to be the case. I'm also pretty interested in this watch. Very tempted and it seems like a really good price! Just need to check if this is the same watch from the same factory:

Yep, that's the same just the RG version!

As to your other questions, it's a 20mm strap (18mm at the clasp), and you just change it with a standard tool.

I cant really add much too it apart from the thickness doesnt really seem to be an issue for me and i wear siuts and shirts every day for work
also my pics are not as good!! lol

I went with RG because i was looking for a rose gold dress watch anyway. Haha. I read somewhere that the gen "silver" one is actually white gold which has a different kind of sheen vs a steel case. But I personally don't know the difference so this whole point might be moot anyway. Lol.

It's an automatic movement. So as long as you're wearing it, it should wind itself. If you're asking about power reserve, I keep my watch in a watch winder so I can't exactly tell you how long it will last in a box without movement. But i never expect reps to have a very long power reserve. Maybe a day or two at the most.

Another question: which td did you buy from? I like the blue dot on the side, but didn't find any dealer who has the blue dot.

I bought my watch from my usual TD (TsWatch). Even though they don't have the watch in their online catalogue, you can just email almost any TD and just send them a picture of this watch and ask for the "GF Factory" version and you'll most likely end up with the same version.

You can try puretime if you like, as well. They have this watch in their online catalogue.

It's a 21600bph movement. The post I read this from said it was a modified A2836 movement, but I cast certain doubt on that due to the low beat movement (which is just like gen) and the loud rotor. I'm not certain what this is, but it's rock solid for me.

I go this from WatchStation. The movement lasts ~40hrs.

Most likely a st2528 from seagull. I have a watch that uses that movement. Really good movement and rather reliable if the QC is good. If the QC hasn't been done properly, then the movement might lack oil or be over oiled. But in any case, you can just get your watch serviced once you get it and wear it for a couple years! (I've had mine for 5 years and took it to the jewler yesterday).
