I'm quite used to see some bad watches from the H-Factory coming on my bench. Bad movements, loose hands, poor qc, .... Except from their excellent cases, I've basically seen everything go wrong on these watches, but never all at once........ Untill today.
A few weeks ago gtwc contacted me about his 177L having issues: the crystal was raised on one side because of bad pressing, and the movement had stop working. I managed to press the crystal back properly and fix the movement, but the minute hand started to become weak.
I told gtwc the hands could be replaced, but he doesn't wanted to throw any more money on the watch so he told me to ship it anyway.
When the watch arrived back at his house, the weak hand turned into loose.
As he don't wanted to bother with this watch anymore, he offered to give it to me!!! I have to say this is an awesome gesture. Even if the watch has issues, I can still make it good!!
So for that thanks a lot mate!!
I'm very happy with the watch, even if in the end it has quite a few more issues than just a badly ressed crystal.
The back crystal (which is mineral, not sapphire despite what H-Factory is stating) is fairly scratched. Here are the sratches AFTER an initial polishing.
Dial has no dial feet.
No screws/holes to secure the dial feet.
Regular 6497 for comparison purposes.
Funny pallet folrk bridge.
Again, regular 6497 for reference.
Fortunately this is an exception, they're not all that bad, but it's true that these watches tends to show issues.
