I was wondering how the factories/Dealers decide which watches becomes replicas.

What criteria (if any) a watch has to adhere to in order to be repped.

Is it just based on popularity for example?

I love the limited edition Breitling Blackbird with the red chrono hands and red date but cant afford the real one!! So would love a rep of this model.

Mind you the amount of threads that say the Blackbird big date and 7750 movement are a cause for concern worries me a bit!!
Cant really pay $350 for a watch and then $175-200 on a service only to find out that if something breaks you cant get spares!

regarding your first question, some of the big dealers have some influence on what is getting repped.....regarding the Blackbird, I have one now since 2 years without any problems. Don't worry, it is a nice watch. And I do not think they will rep the limited edition.

Thanks Guru, can I ask if you had your Blackbird serviced straight away as soon as you got it?
