Hi guys,

I've been looking around the forums as well as pictures on various TD sites regarding the rep Rolex boxsets. They seem to be pretty hit or miss, with some pretty obvious flaws. Has anyone had particularly impressive experiences with the boxsets or does anyone have a particular dealer that they recommend? Would you recommend getting a boxset at all?

Pictures are welcome too, the more the better!

I have had all the grades and kinds of rep box, they are all shit. Get a real one from eBay or any good watch forum. It costs only $20-$40 more, is endlessly better, and you usually get manuals, documents hangtags and stuff included too.

There are no use to get a brand boxset other than trying to scammed someone off the ebay posting as a gen with full set and it is also a waste of money too. I suggest you to use the money with a bit more top up and get a 8,10 or 12 slots watch box so store all your watches.

That's not true. Just look at some of the amazing and jaw dropping vintage builds that some of the members here and on the other forums have made, and having a box set completes the overall feel of the piece. Again, I'm referring to vintage franken type level builds, but still... to each his own.

While I personally would not waste the money on a gen box set for a modern piece, and instead prefer to have a nice multi-slot watch box for everyone to hang out together, I can respect the preferences of others. There may indeed be a few bad apples who would try to use these items to perpetrate a scam, but those jag-offs are going to try that stuff regardless of whether they have a box or not.

Not everyone looking for a box has sinister motives...

I see ads all the time on ebay or craigslist of people claiming "the watch was passed down from a dead relative" or "I won it at a poker game" then when asked to meet at a jeweler they always say they don't have time or that its sold already. I hate people like that, The watch is obviously a fake if they don't wanna meet at a jeweler. Part of me feels sorry for the people who fall for it but the other part say "you diot". Just my .2 thanks for allowing me to rant LOL

Exactly. The douchebaggery is endless and most of those knuckleheads don't have boxes, yet are still trying pull off that crap.

I know that not all do have bad intention when getting a brand box and i don't mean that OP is definitely one of them but i believe most who wanna get a box do have something bad in planning. If he is not one of them, i'm just suggesting him to save his money and just get a big watch box to store all his watches.

To me, doesn't matter how well build a watch is, it will always remain as a rep, nothing can change the status of it whether with or without a gen box. So it is always a waste of money to get a brand box, doesn't matter gen or rep as there is almost no use of it.

I get it and I totally agree with you. I prefer a nice watch box, myself. If you go over to RWG, however, there are some members who have built literally all vintage gen parts frankens. Those are gens, or genkens. When putting something like that into a cool 1950s or 1960s box, with other vintage items from the era, it really looks fantastic. But again, those are rare examples.

Maybe i'm still not up to their level yet to understand their enjoyment of building a highly franken vintage Rolex finish with a vintage gen box....... It does look fantastic when it is done but i can't figure out how they justify the time and money spend to build it but hopefully one day in future i will.

Hi, You can try and ask Jafo if something is left: http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php?t=204534&highlight=jafo+box. Or try Intime.

While it´s too much to have 22 reps and 22 boxes imo it makes a lot of sense to have 2 or 3 boxsets in total to go along with, possibly Panerai or Hublot, it´s just part of the fun as is a high quality multiwatchbox like Rainers luxury or a top-of the shelf winder or for what it matters a collection of straps when one or two could do the job. To each his own.

As for building a fantastic vintage PAM or Rol´´ it also makes sense, once You are trimming down the collection to just a handful of keepers. At that stage, You have already tried everything and You know exactly what to look for, members have become highly specialized and are able to build grail-watches which are not even available on the gen market as such. They are not looking for the latest release, they have become collectors who just want the tiniest detail on their build to be perfect in comparison to a 50 or 60 Year old original. A
t least that´s the way I understand it.

this will look beautiful in a PAM:) (taken from HF)

I Got a great box set from JAFO, and I bought a Gen presidents box set that I might sell but if you can find a deal the gen sets are not too much more than rep.

Yeah I've decided to just go for one large watch box as opposed to several brand watchboxes to save money and space since I plan on growing my rep collection quite significantly this year. It was more of a decoration thing, but you're absolutely right, it is quite unnecessary - I'd rather spend that money on mods.

I think i'm just going to save costs and space and go for a larger watch case for the majority of my reps. But I plan to pick up a good PAM in the coming months and I think i'll get a box set for that - I really like the PAM box designs with the window on the top, it would look great on my black desk too.

thanks for the info!
