Inspiration for this build came from an article on "Vintage Panerai" about a 3646 Type D that surfaced in Yugoslavia with a replacement VDO dial taken from a cockpit.

I bought many of the parts in one lot at HF, but putting them together with an old Cort. 616 has been a real test. I still plan to re-weld the lug bars, and put proper hands on it, but I am curious to see if there are any suggestions from my brothers here about things I might do before finishing it off.

These VDO cockpit dials have large centre hole, which exposes alot of the hour wheel. I am tempted to refinish the hour wheel in black.
I also feel an urge to sausage lume the numbers, but maybe that is going too far. Other ideas: Stick a pig on the dial? Transfer some Panerai marking to the dial?

This is more minimalist than I have ever built, but it took ages.
