Recently I bought one of my first "submersible" case Panerais -PAM186 Arktos GMT. Arrived in timely fashion (TY Jacksongo) but as to be expected from inexpensive rep full of flaws, which I do not mind at all since I bought this one to make it a ultimate Arktos Franken. There's so much to do starting with case rework, CG upgrade, crystal and cyclops rework, full relume and of course I want to have fully working GMT function. Oh, almost forgot about wrong caseback :hehehe:

Now, due to me being still a noob Paneristi, I need you guys to point me to the right direction, which of the Pam modders in your opinion should I run this project with? I will appreciate your knowledgeable input!

First thing you should do: pry the bezel squares, and the NSEW markers off, get some metal epoxy, and glue those suckers back on.

Easy fix for a potential future headache.

So I've heard. Thanx for the advise though!!!!

Did you manage to get the mods you were planning done? I'm looking at getting the PAM092 and one of the things I read was the "re-gluing" of the NSEW + Squares. Did you do it yourself or get a modder to do it?

Amazing pics by the way. Did you waterproof it before those frigid looking "PAM186 on Ice" pics you took?

Thank you gus for kind words! Watch is now totally transformed - ended up ditching the bezel completly in favor of "ultimate" version, gen crystal with gen gasket, gen GMT hand set, gen CG, HFac crown and lastly correct case back. The dial is in the works right now for full relume to match gen hands. Inner GMT bezel ring will also receive lume on stick indices as per gen. Im waiting for the combo to come back to me to finally start final assembly CP recess and polish and of course waterproofing. Pictorial will soon follow.

As far as rep waterproofness, its there for everyday moisture protection but I'd not risk swimming in it.

Sounds amazing! You doing the modding yourself? Where do you source all those parts though ("Ultimate" version bezel, Crown, Caseback, etc.) is it from one guy or several deals altogether? Are you having the datewheel replaced as well?

If I do get the 092, I'm keen on having some of those mods (specific to the 092 of course) done which is why I asked. :)

Ive been sourcing all the parts across the different forums, EBay and fellow collectors. Its a long and painstaking process but eventually you'll find what you're looking for. I have to warn you though, It is quite expensive jurney, especially building/frankening special edition watches. Most of the gen parts specific to the given model are hard to find and usually if surfaced they'll sell in a blink of an eye. I could recommend few modders/builders that I trust and you could use for your project as well.
