I just got a PAM332. It's everything that I've read about, however, the QR system on one of the lugs at first did not seem to function, which unfortunately disables its ability to change straps. It was hard to the point of destroying those tools that come with the PAM243 (the TD will replace it). Now I was quite disappointed with this development and was definitely thinking about having the watch replaced. I thought about the old school method of using toothpicks and even though it wasn't smooth, I was able to coax the springbar to release and to catch when reinserting the spring bar.

Now this is the dilemma. I have the watch now, in my possession. Watch runs fine, chrono resets to zero, correct Challenge caseback, etc. It's just the QR lug issue. Do I return the watch, and risk a replacement that may or may not have any other issue, and add to the pot the fact that CNY is almost upon us and may take until the end of the month to reach me, at best, or do I accept the watch I have, as it is, with a minor issue that may go either way (become looser or deteriorate to non-working) and if in case it deteriorates, just replace it with springbars and color them with a black marker?

A picture of the problem?

Cosmetically, you can't see it. It's only when you depress the QR button that you know it's not working like it should (I have a PAM312 and a PAM243 so I know how the QR feels when it's working). When I used the strap change tool, I was imparting enough force to bend the plastic tip and yet it would not budge. Using a harder object (in this case a toothpick) was I able to make it move enough to release the lug bar although it still takes a considerable amount of effort.

Put it on a strap you want it to be on and forget about the issue :p Seriously probably not worth the hassle of returning it.

Okie. I have a similar problem with my Pam320. One of the QR is not working correctly. Even when I depressed the QR, I cannot push the bar in and a hard time to get it out. Upon further inspection, I notice the driller holder for the QR has been drilled too deep casing the QR mech blocking the bar.

What I did is, carefully remove the QR mech (don't drop or lose it, it will be a pain in the ass to try recover it) and use dental floss to wrap the bottom of the QR mech. Just a round will do the trick for me. And pop the QR right back into place. It work wonders for me.

Do take note of the risk of the QR mech drop out when changing straps.

I hope it helps.

I had both noob and h factory cases with the same problem, even my V2 noob 243 has it. It seems to be a common problem even from different factories. As long as you are able to release the pin using a toothpick, just use a toothpick. It's not like you have to change the strap twice per day or putt up a show while doing it to have to use a Panerai tool. I fixed mine on one of the watches using a small jewelers file and filed down the catching mechanism a bit, less than 1/4 mm was enough to make it work normally. On the rest I just use a toothpick, I only change the strap once every few months anyway.

Would you guys elaborate / illustrate what you did to the QR? Just to see how complicated / uncomplicated it is. Thank you.
