It appears that the A2824-2 movement in my BB54 has three positions, but mine doesn't seem to have a hand-winding position. When I pull the crown to the first position (I was very careful to ensure I didn't skip any positions), it adjusts the date and produces a ticking sound when I rotate the crown counter-clockwise. At the second position, nothing happens—there's no ticking sound, and I can't feel any resistance. The third position allows me to adjust the hands.

From what I understand, the A2824-2 movement typically has the first position for winding, the second for date adjustment, and the third for adjusting the hands. Could this issue be related to a crown stem?

Neutral position is for winding, first click out for date, second click out for time setting.
Sounds like you might have a keyless issue

Thank you for your reply. May I ask what the keyless issue is and how difficult it is to fix it? For some reason my watch only allows date change (I can feel the ticking when rotating clockwise) and time setting.

You can look it up on youtube, there are many videos dedicated to it.

The first position is just where the crown sits after unscrewing it, you don't have to pull the crown to wind it. There should only be two clicks, the middle you're experiencing might just be an intermediate setting that is in between the quickset date and hand setting positions.

I think my initial explanation of the issue wasn't clear. In the original post, I stated that I pulled the crown to the first position, but what I meant was that I unscrewed the crown to the neutral position. To clarify, my watch crown's neutral position changes date, the first position does nothing, and the second position changes time.

Ahh, okay. Then either the stem is too short or there is likely a keyless issue as Natas said. That will require disassembly to fix, but it's simple enough.
