Not accusing zf of not using real bronze, just a mere suspicion. I cleaned my watch aggressively using ketchup and baking soda. Came out clean and shiny, but some areas cannot be cleaned, and patina is forming on those uncleaned areas very fast. Used lots of strength and 101% can't be removed.

This is for the latest zf 382 v2.

If it is pure bronze, why would it happen?

Why are you aggressively scrubbing it? Dip the whole watch in lime juice for 10-15 minutes and see what happens. No scrubbing.

I submerge the watch for 15 to 30 minutes only. Rub with a normal cloth when using baking soda. Watch is very clean and shiny, but some same areas won't be removed.

And lemon juice will only reduce the visibility of these areas for 1 to 2 days, then reappear.

Who wants it new and shiny anyway? The entire idea of a bronzo is to allow it to patina.

How would baking soda ruin metals.... i clean it to make sure that the patina forms evenly..

Strange that some areas cannot be cleaned.

Better question is why would anyone make a watch case out of bronze? After being in the US Navy and knowing how the lowest rated enlisted men have to spend days cleaning everything bronze on a ship almost daily to keep it shiny, I wouldn't put anything bronze on my boat or on my wrist.

I know Panerai is going back to their roots when they were a gauge making company, but it's still a stupid idea.

Nothing about roots it as just a gimmick so people can see the metal change and that is why there is a titanium case back so your skin does not get green smudges

Baking soda has an abrasive functionality. It will dull the finish. But I don't think any Bronzo owner cares about that!

Im hoping the people at the National Museum in Athens or the Getty are not following this thread. Id hate to see my old friend here get a bath in ketchup or baking soda. The patina is the beauty of bronze. Leave your watches alone, let nature take its course. It will take a while but patina will develop over time.

Baking soda isn't needed or wise as it'll scratch it..... After a ketchup bath just use some cheap white tooth paste and a soft cloth.... Dab a bit of toothpaste on the watch with your finger then buff in a circular pattern and it'll amaze you how shiny it'll get.... One thing though, make sure to turn your bezel as it dries and frequently... I've got the zfac and the kw... both modded and one currently in pieces, the last thing you want is your bezel fuzed onto the case with patina and toothpaste! Lol it's a real REAL REAL pita to free back up and you can't imagine how hard to remove once it's welded itself to the case.. Lol
