With the release of the PAM177L rep, this instantly became everyone's favorite, together with the PAM288K. As a casual PAM fan, I can understand why.
Previous PAM177 owners would have modded the watch to achieve a level above the rest, they would have sourced for a better titanium CG, a taller cannon pinion, have it re-lumed, and scour the boards for a better caseback, and so on.
The new generation PAM177L seems to have all this, a great looking CG with rollerball that snaps like a charm, a tall cannon pin, a superluminova lume that glows like a neon light, a nice titanium case that has a thicker than normal caseback, with individual L series number. What else can you ask for?
Here are some of the eye candy for your viewing pleasure...
Well, apparently, even with the super specs that was listed, there's few things that were left for us to modify. The sapphire crystal doesn't seem to have AR coating, I might be wrong on this part but to my untrained PAM eyes, the AR coating can be improved with a custom AR coating from takashi or fine dd.
The Asian 6497 movement's sound is loud, you can hear it ticking in the wrist. The winding sound is louder than normal Asian 6497s too, I have the PAM111J and a cheapie PAM112 and the Asian 6497 movement of these two are a notch quieter than the PAM177L. I've read in other threads that the PAM177L movt aesthetics needs improvement too.
Overall, I'm very happy that I snagged one of these before Lay @ Replicamake ran out of stock, it's a beautiful watch any Panerai fan should have.
Best regards,
